Author: clanknut Surnames: Bailes, Sparlin, Sparling Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.ripley/3052/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm searching in a roundabout way for Flora's maiden name. I know that George was born in Sullivan County and that he married and lived with a woman, Flora, in Ripley County for, at least, twenty years. I'm searching, therefore, those two counties for families with a daughter named Flora, born in 1868. The best candidate I found was on the census record of 1880 for Sullivan Co., IN, which shows a man named Edward Bailes, married to Sarah E. They have three children, including Flora, born 1868. There might be a marriage record, either in Sullivan or Ripley. Just as likely there might be a tombstone in Ripley county for either Flora or George or both. Asking for any added information to help me in my search. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Benjamin Swallow married Susan Ent (not Amy) on Dec 7, 1811. Susan was born in 1769 in Hunterdon County, NJ to parents John and Rebecca. John was the oldest son of Valentine Ent and Susannah Moore. Valentine came to America in 1733 with several members of his family that settled in Germanatown. Valentine and Susannah married in Germantown and moved to Hunterdon County (Amwell Township) around 1750. Valentine was a Tanner and a Freeholder for many years. Their youngest son was named Charles and he is probably your ancestor listed in your reply. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
