She and my great grandfather (Leslie Broome) lived in Patterson's Creek, WV, but I know that Leslie's father John Edward Broome owned property in or near Cumberland, MD. I have no information on Grace's parents but she would have been born late 1800's. I may be able to find the dates if you're interested. -Rex Broome

I would appreciate it if you would contact me and we could compare information. I have tried to make a connection to the Rev. War for a long time. Thank you Pat Are you sure that Samuel is the son of Joseph Goucher? I did not know that for sure.

Alexander Kinnett was the son of James Kinnett and Ruth Butt. He was a brother of Samuel Kinnett, my husband's ancestor, who was in Ripley Co. by 1820. James followed somewhat later. The family was from PA, and moved to SW Ohio - variously Adams/Brown County as they were founded and split off. Their father was probably Valentine Kinnett, but the name was popular in the family, so it appears that some researcher has compacted two generations into one and I have not yet enough information to sort it out to my satisfaction. Most of my information on the Ripley Co.Kinnetts comes from census, marriage, and cemetery records. Many of these are now available on Ripley County web sites. It was a prolific family. My database exceeds 500 names. (However it IS in database form on a MAC computer, so it does not travel well.) What is your line from Alexander? If I can help you link up, I will be happy to do so. His mother Sarah Heyward is also said to have died there in 1832. Ammi is said to have brothers Ira, Artis and Arva, but their vitals are not indicated as to place in the LDS records. >From the 1830 Census we find an "Ame", Ira and Artis Wilson in Ripley County, so it seems that much of Oliver and Sarah's family is there. (Also found are Ephraim and James, from elsewhere, apparently KY from later Census records.) In 1840 we find Artis and Artis, Jr. there, and many other Wilson heads of household from the southern lines. In 1850 the Maine Wilsons are not indexed in Ripley County, but in 1860 an aged Ira is found in neighboring Dearborn County, Indiana. I am searching for the heritage of Emily Wilson, b. 1811 in Maine, who married Stephen Day (b. 1809 in NJ) in Dearborn County in 1831. It makes sense that she descends from one of Oliver's sons. Can anyone help on these Wilsons? TIA. Pat

Janet, I dont think I have anything on Roy's wife, but we are probably some kind of cousins, as my husband traces to John Hicks of Switzerland Co. - through son Joshua and his daughter Charlotte (Hicks) Emerson. He also has Rice, Watts, Kinnett, etc. in Ripley Co. (Mine are all Germans - Rimstidt/Lullman/Homfeld) Have you found any information on Hicks before John and Samuel in Duchess Co. NY? That has been the brick wall. Barbara Rice Lafayette IN
Wondering if there is anyone on this list associated with this family who can tell me the surname of Roy's wife, Culna. Many Thanks, Janet Currie
I am a descendant of William & Mary Lewis through their daughter Amelia Ann Lewis who first married Samuel Austen. Their son Samuel Lewis Austen married Harriet Jane Truitt, daughter of James Henry and Mary Olivia (Dean) Truitt. His parents were Peter and Catherine (Williams) Truitt. Her parents were Ephriam and Bridget Belinda Dean. All these families lived in Ripley Co., IN. Would like to exchange information with others researching the Lewis, Austen, Truitt & Dean and related families. Doyle & Ruby Ekey Kansas
