I have inherited her genealogy information. I've been trying to wade through it ever since her death. I know that Samuel Cady was one of the name you both had in common. You wrote each other about her pending trip to NY to research information about Samuel. There was a letter you wrote to her dated May 2, 1998 where you outlined some of the places she might research. She was trying to prove (1) that Elijah Cady was Samuel Cady's father, (2) that her Rev. Samuel David Cady was the same as your Samuel Cady. I'd love to hear from you directly. I don't have your e-mail address. Please contact me, bap326_osu@brightok.net. I look forward to your reply. Bonnie Petty

My connection is through my half-brother, Charles Platter, whose grandfather was Charles Raymond Platter, s/o Henry Barton Platter whose parents were Jonathan Tibet Platter and Susan Weyer. I have a copy of Rev. David Edwin Platter's book from 1919 but not much documentation so from time to time I have been trying to collect what I can find. If your information goes beyond Rev. Platter's work, I would love to have a copy. If you don't have a copy of the Platter history and are interested in the information, please contact me directly. Thank you for contacting me and for your generous offer to share information.

I'd be happy to forward it to you as a Word document if you'd like. Or perhaps I've already sent it to you? I have it in my research as I am a descendant of Susan Weyer, Jonathan Tibet Platter's wife. However, due to my Weyer line, I don't have any information beyond Philip and Emily Platter, just from them forward. My information was provided to me by Andrew J. Weyer for the most part. Let me know if you'd like this Word document. Twila Ingham tingham@opencominc.com

    1. [INRipley] JONES Family in Ripley County 1800's
    2. EDWIN JONES
    3. Hello Ripley County Group I'm searching for any information regarding my grgr grandparents who were in Ripley County during the early 1800's. Samuel JONES was born probably 1770/1790 somewhere in Md. He married Catherine (Kitty) VanPelt 8/18/1808 in Fayette County, Ky. They came to Ripley County sometime in the 1820's & lived near Cross Plains in Ripley County. From court records they had the following children: 1. Samuel 2. Eliza 3. Joseph 4. Henrietta 5. Henry Crown Henry C. was my gr grandfather & was born 5/2/1830 in Ripley County. From Court records there was an estate settlement for Samuel which has that he died 11/4/1834 in Ripley County. The records also state that Eliza who was married to James WILSON took the children except for Samuel Jr. & went to Ky. There is no mention of Kitty in Samuel's will or estate so I suspect that she died before Samuel. After abount 20 years of research I have not been able to find any cemetery records for either Samuel or Kitty. It seems that Henry C. had a guardian being T.W. CRIDLAND. I have not been able to find any records regarding this person. Was T.W. CRIDLAND a man or woman & were they related to this JONES family? A man who lives at Cross Plains went with me to the Bear Creek Cemetery (no road to this place) a few years ago but most grave stones can no longer be read. I tried to find a list of those in the cemetery but no luck doing it at the Ripley County Historical Society. I would like very much to trace my Jones line back to the immigrant person or family. Thanks in advance for any help in my search. Ed Jones New Palestine, In.
