Since the Nancy listed as John Eller's wife was only about 18 in the 1850 census, she probably doesn't belong to either Jacob or Conrad. In a later census, John Eller is listed as not being able to read or write, so while it is possible that the birthdate of Nancy is a bit off, it probably wasn't too far off. But, I would appreciate having the information about the Jacob and Conrad Dowers' families. That will at least help me keep some information straight as I try to find out who this Nancy Dowers was and what happened to their son Barnabas. Thank you.

The info was verified so I doubt that your Nancy is either one of those I have. The Ellis family married several Dowers. Of the two brothers, Jacob Jr. and Conrad-------Conrad only had girls and they were all born, probably by 1800. (first one born 1789). No Nancys there. Jacob Jr. had 8 children, one of which was one of the Nancy's I gave. The only thing I could think of is that Nancy may be the middle name of one I have listed. Some of them we don't have a birthdate or married name. Do you have any more info. I will be glad to give you info I have.

I am descended from Conrad Dowers, through his daughter Nancy who was said to be born in the 1790s in PA, and who married unknown-first-name Terrell possibly in Hamilton Co. IN. They had both died by 1840 and the children are all mentioned in Conrad Dowers will in the 1840s as "the children of my deceased dau. Nancy and unknown Terrell". I have been looking for unknown Terrell since 1986. Anyone know anything about this Nancy Dowers and unknown? Joan

I'm wondering if she might be the Nancy Dowers who married John Eller in 1848 and had one son, b. 1850. In 1850 census in Ripley county, Brown twp., she is listed as being born in IND and her age was listed as 18.
