    1. [INRipley] Knapp - Hill families - NY - Dearborn/Ripley Co.
    2. Lucy Hill married Arad Knapp in NY. They first came to Dearborn Co and then to Ripley Co. (Washington Twp.). One of their children was named Squire Hill Knapp. For years, I thought that it wasn't really his name but an identification. However, it was his birth name. I have found two Squire Hills in New York that were the right age to be Lucy's father, but both have had their children identified and none claim a "Lucy". Arad and Lucy have the oldest graves in the Blasdel/Walker/Smith cemetery in Stringtown. Does anyone know anything about Lucy's parents? Did she have siblings that came to the same area? I know the ancestors of Arad Knapp but I am completely stuck on Lucy. It has been 25 years, and I am still in the same place in my research on the Hill family. Thanks - Marilyn

    1. [INRipley] Allen and Nancy Burton in 1850 census
    2. Gwen Boucher
    3. I am looking for information on Allen (age 55, born KY) and Nancy Burton (age 66, born VA) who were listed in the 1850 census for Ripley Co., IN. Their neighbors (heads of family) were Sarah Risks, Richard Risks, Abraham Levi, John Ewing, Isaac Levi, Rebecca Levi, Benjamin Hyatt (my ancestors), Isaac Levi (the Rev War pensioner). Except for the Hyatts, I understand they are all related. I believe Caroline Hyatt, wife of Benjamin Hyatt, is also from this family. Is anyone on this list knowledgeable of these Burtons? Based on marriage records found on Ancestry.com, I SUSPECT that Nancy was the daughter of old Isaac Levi, that her first husband was James Wellman whom she married in Harrison Co., KY and then she married Allen Burton in Campbell Co., KY. I live in a city with a wonderful genealogy library but unfortunately the only resource for Ripley Co is one volume of History of Ripley Co. Inidiana. Gwen Boucher

My cousin is the expert on the Ruble side of my family and his genealogy report is several hundred pages, when I was growing up around my grandparents it was always assumed the name Ruble came from Russia based on their currency, in actuality the name was Rubelli or somewheres close to that and they migrated from Switzerland to Germany due to religeous persecution and the original spelling altered through time. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4h.2ADI/1697.1 Message Board Post: There are two fairly easy ways to get access to the records. The LDS has many of the records in their system and you can gain access through any LDS Family History Center. If you're already in Indiana, the public library in Lawrenceburg also has copies of the films for SE Indiana churches and you can access them there...I'm not familiar with what might be available in Versailles...it might be worth giving the local historical society a call.

It would be hard to imagine 2 Rubles in the same cemetery not being related, I was back there several years ago and have pics of the grave yard but not sure if I took pics of the other Ruble markers.
