Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4h.2ADI/1499 Message Board Post: Does anyone know who to contact to try and find pre-1906 naturalization papers for immigrants processed in Ripley County? I've already contacted the genealogy dept. of the library in Batesville, who kindly provided me with post 1923 microfilm copies of a sibling's papers. But I can't read it. So they referred me to the historical society, because they thought the earlier ones might be on file there. The historical society sent me a boatload of paperwork, copies of ledgers, written court reports, etc...but none are my family members, and they're not the papers themselves. So - I'm wondering if anyone knows where these papers are kept (or did Ripley send them to the state archives? I've just contacted the IN State Library in IN, and the State archives looking for Johnson County - no luck at all...and Johnson County's clerk of courts doesn't even know what I'm talking about!?). Would they be kept with the county clerk in Ripley still? Anybody have any experiences doing this type search in Ripley? I KNOW several other relatives were naturalized there, but can't find a hint of it on paper. Thanks! Brenda Geiger

I don't have his wife or children's names but would like them as I think he may be related to my husband. His parents were Richard McNew and Eliz. Hoke. We have a lost link between this family and a Joseph McNew who was married in 1883. We think that our missing link marrie a Cherokee woman. Reply if you have any info. or would like more about this family. Thanks, Judy

I am new to this list. The family I am researching is that of Henry BLOEMER listed on page 511B of the 1880 Indiana Census for Shelby Township in Ripley County. According to the census, Henry BLOEMER was born in 1840 and was from Oldenburg. Since some children of this family was born in Ohio, I am assuming that Indiana was not long their home. I am most interested in daughter Margaret, called Maggie on the 1880 census, then 3 years of age. She married Harry KELSCH between 1900 and 1907 and was listed with him in the Hamilton, Ohio Census in 1910. I have so far not found a marriage record or any of these families in the 1900 census. Does anyone have any connection to these families? Carole Alpharetta, GA
