That July 1919 time period is missing in the microfilm collection as well at the Winchester Library. While there I looked through the 1908 RCI directory, no Canfields listed anywhere. I looked through 1919 and 1920 student lists for Franklin and Ward Townships and Ridgeville, for any Canfield with no results there either. The only other thing I can think of to prove or disprove this Orrin for you, is the Union City Newspaper, which often covered Ridgeville items or even checking the newspapers of Portland (Jay County). That could be, but also, there could have been another Orrin Canfield. Sounds like a unique name, but often times just because we don't use it that much or at all doesn't mean it wasn't a common name then. Also, did Wes Canfield know all the facts in this man's life??? I'm sure he reported to the best of his knowledge, but doesn't mean he had it all correct. I do have another county wide directory, somewhere, I can't think of what year it is, or where it is right now. Try www.raogk.com for a volunteer in Jay County to look for an obit there. Not sure when I will be getting to Union City to look there. Just happen to have a 1/2 day today at work so stopped on my way home for this. Andrea
