My Butlers came from Virginia in 1835. The line goes like this: James b.Prince georges Co, James born Dinwiddie Co, Johnathon b. Dinwiddle Co Johnathon married Elizabeth "Betsy" Harris, sister of John Harris both b.Campbell Co. Louisa Fountain Butler, d/o Johnathon and Betsy, married the son of John , William Patrick Harris, so they were first cousins. The Butlers and John Harris and his family made up the wagon train going to OH and IN arriving in 1836. The widowed mother of Betsy and John was Jane Butterworth Harris; she was 72 when they left VA and came to IN to settle. Other family members came too -- two other sons Benjamin Butterworth Harris and William Harris III, and another daughter, Mary Harris Campbell. The Harrises settled in the southwester corner of Randolph Co IN around Modoc. I have counted so far a probable 43 relatives in that train. They stayed in Warren Co OH for awhile and some of them stayed. There was at least two babies born on the way!! Well, it is all extremely exciting and interesting. Hope to hear from you again.............Phyllis Harrs DePoy..........aka...........phd -------------- Original message -------------- From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: Gentonic > Surnames: PEMBERTON, DICKSON, BUTLER, CLAY, SINKS, TERRELL, FRIDDLE > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.randol > ph/475.786/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Mary Ann Louisa Arthur Pemberton Terrell Friddle (yes, this is one > person)...widow of David Pemberton of Miami Co, OH. > Mary Ann Louisa Arthur came to IN from Frederick Co/Carroll Co, MD. > > Andrew Dickson, son of William and Mary Sinks Dickson m: Delitha Butler, dau of > James and Elizabeth Clay Butler. > Dicksons came to Randolph Co, IN from SC>OH>IN. > Sinks came to OH from Randolph Co, NC. > > Butlers and Clays came to Randolph Co, IN from Virginia. > > Welcome communicaiton with those connected to these families. > > Regards........Joyce in VA > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
