Could someone look to see if there are any wills listed for Malinda H. Manes Briggs or William R. Briggs. Malinda died in 1909. I think William R. Briggs died in 1899-1910. I would like to know how to get adoption records in about 1870s. William R. Briggs adopted Alice M. (not sure of her name unless Manes) and her brother William F. (real father McChristy but could have gone by Manes) in 1870s. They were both born out of wedlock. I am trying to determine if McChristy was also father of Alice M. Briggs Kennedy. I think I might know the attorney who handled that adoption if they really went through the court system or the children just adopted his name when he married their mother Malinda H. Manes.
