Thick quarto, black library buckram with gilt spine title. Pp. xv, 508. Illustrated throughout with maps (some in color), portraits, "lithographic" views and sketches. A detailed history from "pre-historic" times. Includes sections on Civil War history, "Anti-slavery" and the underground railroad, "Colored People" and their "settlements", "Secret Societies" and "Temperance". A very tight, sound and clean volume with slight dustiness to endpapers. Near fine. Scarce.
