    3. Good information, Maxine. There is one other source people should check before giving up...their historical society. You just might get lucky. I was fortunate when I went to Jay Co and found that records from an old mortuary had been turned over to them. I wish all mortuaries, their successors or surviving families would think to do that. Sometimes you can contact a Funeral Home. They most likely inherited the old original records of the Mortuary f for the time you are interested in. Also can check newspapers on Film in LDS LIB. and also Death indexes of State if death was after thier reporting date. Many times the caretaker of a cemetery will also help you. Some library's in town or state have draers full of Obit's etc depending on s everal things, as time period , newspaper availability etc./ I went to a funeral home and found my granfa who died in 1955 and they even had some imfo turnd around and mistakes which I was able to leave a correction to w. my name etc attatched to the page. Also if the Cem wasn't walked and checked otherwise and posted. a message to county giving name and all imfo you have will bring you a picture of the stone and the imfo etc you want. There are many great helpers on the net out there in the area that are willing to help. Also there are several BOOKS done about the Randolph County in past yrs that a libe will have or can be ordered by your Home town Library on INTER LIBRARY LOAN for little or no cost. For this you have to have tne Tittle and publisher and place or person who wrote or put the book together. Hope this helps someone. I was in a big lib in my area and they had a Randolph Co Ind book done not too long ago and I found some bio's of my Smithson's, and other surnames in it and was able to copy what I found.
