    3. Jules, My answer doesn't really help you, but it may help some one else. My grandfather and family lived in Los Angeles, CA during the Depression. He was given work by the WPA and the job was in Los Angeles. He was put to work in the accounting dept. of a food commissary. He also was given a road repair job which was further away, but still in the Los Angeles area. Your question is a good one! Gets you thinking! Did they hire workers in the area where the worker lived, or did they hire them and send them where there was work to be done? I'm trying to figure out how one of my ancestors ended up in Iowa when he'd lived all of his life in Indiana...and I know that he was working for the WPA in the state of Iowa in the 1930s. I'm just wondering if he had another reason for making the move, or if he might have been sent to a different state because he was employed by the WPA at the time???? ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
