SMITH (1827-1865) in the 1850 Randolph County, Indiana census and/or Knox Co. IN. He should be about 23 years old, and his parents were likely born in (West) Virginia. John's Civil War pension papers merely state he was born in "Randolph". There is a Randolph Co, WV - but since many of the Smiths living near John in the 1860 WV census, had lived or were born in Knox County IN, I started wondering about Randolph County, IN. John has been my brick wall for the last 25 years! THANKS!
