Newman. He served in Company C of the 19th. He was wounded at Gainesville Aug. 26, 1862, resigned Feb. 9,1863 minie-ball wound. Or wounded Aug. 28, 1862 in the second battle of Bull Run and then for the second time July 1863. Originally filed under Joel L. Newman M540 R55 Chicago NARA I have attached a PDF file with the information I have on Joel Newman. I am not sure how well attachments work with the list so let me know if you cannot get it. I have an original letter from his wife sent to him Sept. 6 or 8, 1862. She wants him to come home, mentions leg wound. I need to transcibe this letter. I had another gg grandfather that I believe also served, but I do not know which regiment. His name was Benjamin Hinton Grubbs born in Randolph Co. in 1841 and died in 1906. I have a copy of a letter he sent home from Palaski, TN August 6, 1864. Jennifer Capps [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
