    1. [INRANDOL] DRIVER / MILLS and GALBREATH surname's - 1820 to 1850 in Randolph County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: MILLS, DRIVER, MCGUIRE, BURNS, DUGAN and GALBREATH Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Bk.2ADE/1499 Message Board Post: Looking for information on the following surnames: MILLS - DRIVER -GALBREATH -MCGUIRE -BURNS - DUGAN - all in Randolph Co, Indiana : JACOB MILLS: This Jacob Mills -is by some, referred to as "Old Jacob", and most likely came from Butler Co., Ohio and settled first in Wayne twp., Henry County, Indiana around 1825 and was on the 1830 and 1840 Henry Co., Census. I believe he then came to Randolph County around 1840's. Is there a Biography on this man in the original or revised Tucker History Book? Specifically looking for the names of his children. Wife's name possibly was Mary. ELISHA MILLS: This Elisha Mills was also in Wayne Twp., Henry County, Indiana on the 1830 and 1840 census and was located very close to the Jacob Mills listed above, so I am thinking he may be a son or brother to Jacob. Elisha Mills's wife may have been Eliza (Elizabeth) or possibly ANNA. Can any give the parent's names of this Elisha? JOHN V.(Valentine?) MILLS: I know there is more than one John V. Mills and the one in Randolph County in 1850 may be the son of the elder John V. Mills who originated in OHIO c 1800. I am looking for the older John V. Mills -b: c 1793 - and his family. MORGAN MILLS: I have a complete history on the Morgan Mills - b: c 1794/5 in Ohio. This Morgan Mills married Rebecca Jane DRIVER (dau of John and Catherine (Sample) DRIVER) - in Ohio and came to Randolph Co., IN c 1823 and settled in White River Twp., Maxville/Farmland area. I am looking for documented proof that this Morgan Mills's parents were Elijah and Mary (Bailey) Mills, who settled in Butler County, Ohio in 1789. "Old" Jacob Mills and the "Elder" John V. Mills (mentioned above) are more than likely brother's to this Morgan Mills. Are there any SISTER'S ?? I am looking for an ABIGAIL MILLS -b: c 1800/1805 -more than likely in OHIO, who married a JOHN DRIVER on 01-Sept-1825 in Montgomery Co., OH and moved to Wayne Twp., Henry County, Indiana in 1826. Here's my family Story: On the1830 Henry County, Indiana Census - this John and Abigail (MILLS) DRIVER lived very close to the Jacob Mills and Elisha Mills mentioned above. This John and Abigail (Mills) Driver had 4 children between 1827 and 1833 - named Levi -b:1827, John -b: 1829, Elisha -b: 1831 and Martha Jane -b: 1833. Then - both John and Abigail Driver died of Cholera in 1835, leaving the children orphan's. (Martha Jane Driver is my gr gr grandmother.) John Driver's Probate Records from Henry Co., IN show that both Jacob MILLS and Elisha MILLS attended the John Driver Estate Auction, where each of them purchased several personal items belonging to John and Abigail's household. Now: My personal research in Randolph County, IN finds the little children of John and Abigail (Mills) Driver of Henry County - were sent to live in Randolph County with the families of JACOB DRIVER and JAMES DRIVER. Levi and John went to live with James and Sarah (Rhody) Driver and Elisha and Martha Jane went to Jacob and Amanda (McNees) Driver - re: 1850 Randolph Co.census records found at the Allen County Indiana Genealogical Library. What I am trying to prove is: 1. Are Morgan, Jacob and John V. MILLS brothers? Who are their parents? Is Abigail MILLS their sister? (Abigail (MILLS) Driver - is my gr gr gr grandmother.) 2. Is John DRIVER of Henry County, IN a brother to James and Jacob DRIVER of Randolph Co.? Why else would John Driver's children go to live with the James and Jacob Driver families, if they were not blood related?? (John Driver is my gr gr gr grandfather) (I have proof that Rebecca Jane DRIVER - wife of Morgan MILLS - is a sister of James and Jacob Driver of Randolph Co.). 3) In 1854 Randolph Co. - Martha Jane Driver, dau of John and Abigail (Mills) Driver, married Wilson T. Mills, son of Morgan and Rebecca Jane (Driver) MILLS. BUT - here's the rest of the story......In November of 1852, Martha Jane Driver gave birth to an Illigetimate son who she named William -my gr grandfather. A 150 year old family story claims that William's real father was named JOHN GALBREATH. The only JOHN GALBREATH I could find that was in close proximity to Martha Jane Driver in 1852 - was the John Galbreath who married in May of 1852 - to Nancy Ann DRIVER, daughter of James and Sarah (Rhody) Driver. HMMMMM !! Soooooo -Who is this JOHN GALBREATH??? Should I be calling "him" my great grandpa????? I have never found a birth or baptismal record for my gr grandfather William (Driver?) in Randolph Co. After Martha Jane Driver married Wilson T. Mills - William went by the name William Mills. In 1865 this family moved to Eden Valley, Stearns County, Minnesota and time marched on. William MILLS married Emma Belle DUGAN - dau of Lewis and Sarah (MCGUIRE) Dugan - all forrmerly of Randolph County, IN. (Sarah McGuire - was the dau of Samuel and Eunice (Burns) McGuire - also, formerly of Randolph Co., IN. Yep- they all ended up in Minnesota! However, two generations later and long after the above named people were long dead and buried - my sister and I (as young adults), were told the family story of our questionable Mills bloodline. We're not MILLS?????????? Many years passed - not knowing or really caring (I guess?) who we really were, until one day in 1978 my sister and I decided to follow "Alex Haley's" lead and research our Mills - OR Galbreath - family history. Now, 25 years later and after a lot of "diggin" -we "almost" know who we are - WE ARE MILLS'S - Oh Yes We Are!! Remember Abigail (MILLS) Driver -our gr gr gr grandmother??? And, we're DRIVER'S & McGUIRE'S & BURN"S & DUGAN'S, etc., etc., etc., and Oh! Ya - and maybe even GALBREATH'S!! Does any of the above information ring any bells with anyone?? I would love to hear from any "cousin" - no matter "who" you may be connected to. Best Regards, Judy Mills Boie - Minnesota
