Alexander, Sr. This is the same Thornton Alexander who with James and Sophia Clemens, used their farms as safe places for the Underground Railroad. He is one of the founding fathers of a settlement of free blacks called Greenville Negro (AKA Longtown). He donated the land that now houses the Union Literary Institute. His biography is detailed in the History of Randolph County by Ebenezar Tucker, 1882. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
