I suspect the Howard name is reasonably common and so far I see no common links between my lines and the Howards mentioned....but I haven't worked Howards very much. They were a Virginia line and some of the family seems to have gone to Ohio. The Smelser line continues on into Minnesota, Wisconsin and Kansas.
