I have no idea if they would do that. I am sure that if you would go to the trouble of seeking what books each death is listed in the indexes at the Museum (Monisa), and then fill out a form for each one to be done, along with a note then maybe they would do it that way, but I would suggest that you call them to find out. I am not aware of the County Health Dept having a public web-site/e-mail, I do know they have internal e-mail, but I don't have an e-mail address. For the forms... http://www.pceaze.com/genealogy/rcibios/Tools.html 325 S.Oak St. Suite 202, Winchester, IN 47394 (this is the old hospital at Oak St and Greenville Pike) (765)584-1155 I do know that they will not do a general search for someone, you need to provide a name and a date, they will look a few years back and forth, but really don't want to take the time to do more, so it is recomended by them that you contact the museum for the index info first. Museum 416 S. Meridian St., Winchester, IN 47394 (765)584-1334 I have set up an e-mail address for the museum, which Marjorie Birtwhistle or Shirley Swallow are answering it. [email protected], I am currently working on a brand new web-site for the museum and hope to have it up and running sometime in June. That is true about the earlier books illegitimate births were done in the same books as with the other births. I am not sure what year they started keeping a separate book for illegitimate births, Monisa can answer that question. She has also told me that adoptions before the 1940s were public, and are listed in the civil court papers at the clerks office at the courthouse. Before 1900, adoptions were very easy to do, and not all adoptions went through the court system. Andrea -----Original Message----- From:JT Hi Andrea, I will be in Winchester/Greenville/Union City the end of June and would like to pick up several (or some) death certificates at that time. If I provide the names and information to someone (Health Dept.? Monisa? ...) can they be ready for me to pay for and pick up when I get there? P.S. Regarding the access question and BIRTH records, Monisa once told me that if they let us look at the books, in the surrounding lines, we might see that someone (other than the person we were searching for) had an illegitimate birth or was an illegitimate child.
