    3. The Emmetsville bridge is in Randolph County and spans the Mississinewa River at a point between Albany and Ridgeville. It is a mile off Indiana 28. Known as a "Burr Truss" type, the bridge was a work of A. M. Kennedy and Sons who built numerous bridges in the later third of the 19th Century. The Emmetsville Bridge, which is two miles east of Indian 1 and one mile south of Indiana 28, was built in 1883 by Archibald M. Kennedy and Sons. It is known as a Burr Truss, with arch, and is 126 feet long. Cost was listed at $2,160.00. The bridge was repaired and re-enforced in recent years. This structure also spans the Mississinewa. This article was taken from The Muncie Star newspaper of Sept. 12, 1965. Since that time the bridge was set on fire and burned. A real shame. The burg was called Emmetsville and was on St. Rd. 28, about 1/4 mile from road 700 N.,not down the bridge road. I will get more information when I go to the library today as there is a map showing the businesses that were located there. This map is in the Ridgeville Library. The bridge was named after the berg on the highway. The bridge was not replaced after it burned some years ago by arson. However it is on 700 North, just one mile South of Indiana 28. 3. Hello all, I am reading the information about the covered bridge from California and I really value the history and information you have for this county. It is amazing ! It saddens me to realize the bridge no longer exists. I wonder if it would be possible to rebuild it? It seems it would make a great historical/architectural site for the county. It would not have to be rebuilt for actual transportation use, but for historical/tourist value for the county. Is there some type of commission in Randolph County or Indiana in charge of repairing historical sites such as this?
