    3. Union City Times-Gazette, Thursday, October, 11, 1945 Mrs. Margaret Smith Will Be Ninety-Three On Sunday, Oct. 14. Mrs. Margaret Smith, a well-known Union City lady, will observe her ninety-third birthday anniversary on Sunday, October 14. Mrs. Smith makes her home with two of her daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fowler and Mrs. Margaret Hillis on the Fowler farm directly south of the city on the State Line road. Mrs. Smith came to this country from Scotland sixty-nine years ago, was married to W. R. Smith, a machinist of this city, and has resided in this community since that time. They became the parents of ten children, four of whom are deceased. Besides the two daughters named there are two other daughters, Mrs. Bert Davis, of near this city, and Mrs. Agnes Smith of Coshocton, Ohio; and two sons, Dr. John M. Smith, professor at Smith College at North Hampton, Mass., and James Smith, a teacher at the Technical School of Mechanical Engineering at Memphis, Tenn. There are also ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The husband and father died 39 years ago. The aged lady has received her second eyesight and reports that she enjoys reading the daily papers and letters from her family and friends. [Margaret Masson Smith lived on to the age of 106 years. She is buried in the Union City Cemetery beside her husband William R. Smith (1845 - April 1, 1906). She was born in Scotland October 14, 1852 and died in Randolph County, IN on December 22, 1958.]
