Corbit. (Last name could be spelled Corbitt.) Wiley was born in 1834 in N. Carolina. Parents names unknown. In 1850, at the age of 15, he was living in Greensfork Township with the family of Blake and Nancy Wiggs and their children. In 1860, he was still in Greensfork but living with in the household of Sara Parker and Sarah M. Fulgin or Fulgium (2 women in their 60's) and there were other children in the household. In 1870, he was married to Elizabeth Staight and living in White River Township with his family. He then went into the Civil War (Darke County, Ohio) and returned to Indiana. Elizabeth died and Wiley married Sopha Johns (of Indiana). Later, the couple and their family moved to Grand Traverse County, Michigan where Wiley died in 1906. While Wiley Corbit lived in Randolph County, there were many other Corbits (and Corbitts) living nearby and I am sure that he was related to some or all of them. Almost all of the Corbits and Corbitts living in Randolph County, as well as Sara M. Fulgin and Blake & Nancy Wiggs were born in North Carolina. If anyone has any information regarding any of this, PLEASE CONTACT ME. I need to find ancestors who were related to Wiley Corbit in order to figure out who his parents were to be able to move forward with my genealogy project. Please email me directly at [email protected] Thank you! Patti Fons Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
