Found, by accident, while browsing "Unknown Cemetery" of Randolph County with photos of gravestones. Families mentioned: Yost Lever, Perry M West, Elizabeth Lever, Therisa Lever. These are ancestors of my husband's family. Does anyone have any info on these persons? Would greatly appreciate any help. Letty Sisk was born 1866 and is the daughter of John Sisk and Cynthia Jane Bowman who were married in Grant Co., IN 24 Feb 1863. It looks like John was married twice, because in the 1870 census he has older children also. jhotmire <jhotmire@jayco.net> wrote: The information I have is that Letty was born in 1866 but I'm not sure that is correct. I also went back last night, and got the one article on Carlos and Bloomingsport that I missed, plus I looked at all the other issues for 1976, and got a few more articles to add to the list. Which I will post in a day or two. Hope everyone on the list is someplace nice and warm. Send me some sunshine please and some spring weather too. Andrea

I have been looking for about 2 weeks for this obit, so I was at the library looking once again, but going slower, and found some really neat articles. This was 1976, and in the Saturday papers, they had the Saturday Extra in it. And it was full of pioneer reminisces and stories about some of our forefathers and mothers of Randolph County. The first one to catch my eye was Temple Smith and the Diggs family. So here is a list of what I found tonight. Lots of pictures like a picture of the current courthouse taken in 1886. There are articles about the courthouse and different things around or in the courthouse. P. Fields, John R. Warren, Edward Edger Deerfield, John Hoke Jackson. The Great Candy Caper a Ridgeville story. Thomas Hubbard Green, Philip Barger, Mrs. Sherman. Flatboats. Pictures of downtown Winchester early 1900s. Temple and Priscilla Smith, William Diggs, Jr., Fanny Diggs Hill, Mrs. Paul Beard (daughters of Benjamin Cox). There was a series of articles on Jesse Gray. There was an article on Levi Coffin Home and the Underground Railroad. Spartanburg School, Clear Creek Congregational Christian Church celebrating 100 years, (there was a history of Carlos and Bloomingsport in this issue as well, but I missed it in taking pictures) Governor James P. Goodrich home, Longtown (town just inside of Darke County, a little south of Greenville/OH502), Francis Frazier's Recollections, Uriah Ball, Paul Beard, Jr. A reading by Jere Smith of the Old Settlers' Meeting June 11, 1864. Annie Oakley George and Ansenath (Hill) Thomas, James Clark, Elihu Cammack. An article about the first newspaper in Randolph County, The Winchester Patriot, (the only know copy still in existence is in the Library of Congress) dated October 27, 1843 or 48, it's had to read, published by H.H. Neff. Parker City celebrating 125 years. Solomon Wright's family history (a really good article lots of info on other families). William Robinson, Ruth (Test) Robingson, Thomas Ward, Anna Retz, David Lasley. "Pioneer Jibberish" stories reprinted from the 1882 Tucker book, A Tight Fit by O.H. Smith, anecdote of Jones Votaw, Accidents by O.H. Smith. Elmer Teeters. John Mann of Greensfork, Simon Cox, Burkett Pierce, Pelatiah Bond, Jacob Driver, Martin A. Reeder. General Stone. Ridgeville College, Union Literary Institute, Nathan Harvey Thornburg, W. M. Botkin, John Fisher, Jane (Starbuck) Fisher, Union City Church of the Brethren 125th anniversary article. The Carey Goodrich home (yeap, that is now the Randolph County Historical Museum now). Union City Lumber Industry, Elder Thomas Addington, William Cox WestRiver, Mary Hyatt Coats Pickett, William Armfield Thornburg StoneyCreek, Mrs. Joseph Brown, Jr. Stone Mansion, Charles Crist, Tmomas Middleton (that is how it is spelled in the article), Elisha T. Bailey, William M. Locke, Arthur McKew Ridgeville, James Porter. Ansel Toney. The Interurban. An article about being in prison at Andersonville about William Warrell and his brother Chester. Other area soldiers listed at the prison named by William were, Jeremiah Torney, Leven B. Moyer, Stephen Boast, Newton Founts, W. A. W. Daly, Charles Potter, Calvin W. Diggs, John Stick, Barnes, James Ryan, Noah Ingle, Peter Shaffer, John Cring, Daniel Bond. Willis C. Willmore. History of Winchester Churches. Ridgeville Audience Proves Too Much For "Swindlers" story reprint. Amos Orcutt Ward, Jacob Corl Jackson, J. Paxson Union City, William Stanton StoneyCreek. Stopping for tonight, lots of stuff.
