Schleiger and Lucy A. West. I am wondering if you obtained further info on Charles and his wife Lucy. I recently found a cache of letters in my Aunt's basement dating from 1864. One was addressed to my ggg-grandmother, Elizabeth Clark Bailey of CT, from Julia A. West, mother of Lucy and wife to James L. West of Logansport, IN. Her initial greeting in the letter states: "Dear Sister". I don't actually believe they were sisters but do believe they were related in some way and wonder if you may have further info on the West Line. I am from the Bailey's of Maryland. My gg-grandfather was Oliver A. Bailey of CT, son of Elizabeth Clark Bailey, who removed to Maryland after the war. I do know they had relatives in Pennsylvania where Julia A.(maiden name unknown) was born. Thank you for any info you can provide. Am trying to find information about the family of Yost Lever in Stoney Creek, Indiana. I am particularly interested in his son, Peter Lever/Leaver, born c 1825-1830 in Germany who married Eliza Ann Keener 26 March 1854 in Randolph County and who fathered: Mary A Lever (deceased), Phebe A, 1858; Barbra, 1860; David P, 1863; and Ruth Abigail, 1866. It is my understanding that Tucker's History of Randolph County(?) has a bio of James H Driver that mentions a "Phebe A, daughter of Peter and Eliza A (Keener) Teaver, who were born in Randolph County, October 10, 1857, the second in a family of five children: Mary A (deceased), Phebe A, Barbara, married to John Herron; David; Ruth, now Mrs Harry Orville." Could someone please verify the info mentioned in this bio? That Peter Lever married Eliza Ann Keener on the 26 Marych 1854, that Barbra Lever married John Herron, or that Ruth's married Harry Orville. I would really appreciate any help that you can give me in this matter. **************Planning your summer road trip? Check out AOL Travel Guides. Billy and Bryan, I looked for Bosworth current in the whitepages, the only current Bosworth is Tony, he lives just north of Unionport. I will see if I can get a hold of him in the next few days for a lead. I also might try to see if Ronald is listed in the 1969 directory, it list spouses and kids, for another lead. Andrea
All, If you follow this message exchange and can help us locate Robert Eugene Bosworth please feel free to contact either myself or Bryan Besso at his email address. Billy, Thanks for getting back to me. Post away and, if you find the person or family, I would be happy to send it along. It is 10K gold so the family may want it just for the scrap value but I think the memory would be worth more! Do what ever you can. Thanks Bryan Billy, It is R.E. ? and I can't read the last one it is partial, could be a P or B or R only part is showing. Ring is a little beat up and was found in Wayland, Massachusetts several, make that many, years ago. sorry I can't provide more. Bryan Hi Bryan, What a noble notion you have to attempt to return this ring to its owner. I checked my own class ring from the class of 1949 (Yes, I still have it) and it matches your description. I am sure that it belonged to a member of the class of 1955 of the Union City, Indiana West Side High School. I checked my copy of the School Directory published by the Alumni Association. The only possible fit for the inscription you read, "R E _" has to be Robert Eugene Bosworth if you are indeed positive of the first two initials. Unfortunately, I do not know this man. If you wish to go public with your find we could post your message to the Randolph County Genealogical Researchers List to see if someone else might be able to recognize this man's name. Come back to me with your wishes to further locate this man. Respectfully, Billy J. Karleen, You bet there is and it will be in New Castle this year. The Henry County Public Library and the Henry County Historical Society and Museum are hosting it at the library. I've not been able to send out updates because the library has had major computer problems for several months and the website is failing to show additions. MPL is going to host their website, hopefully this week. For dates and a little information: http://www.nchcpl.lib.in.us/GenFestWeb/genfest.htm Please pass the word along. I think I know it, it is north of the road, large house two stories, has a new metal roof on it, very elegant for the time period it was built, but I would need a copy of the map you are referring to with it marked, to make sure. Please e-mail me off list to work this out. Andrea
HiListers, I'm wondering if there is anyone who is able to take a picture of my 3rd great grandfather, Solomon Wrights house. I don't know if it is possible for anyone to find it, but according to a map my Aunt gave me, it's between Windsor and Winchester on the Windsor road. It is past Cabin Creek (between Cabin Creek and Winchester) but very close to Cabin creek with the White River between it. It is a brick house. Thanks, Barbara T
Hello everyone, First I want to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER! I wanted to let everyone know that the Delaware County and Randolph County Website have moved from Rootsweb to a new server. The sites are located at the following links. http://www.ingenweb.org/indelaware/ http://www.ingenweb.org/inrandolph/ Please be sure to update your bookmarks. There may be some broken links on some of the pages, I am still uploading some of the pages and images to the new server. I will run a link checker after the entire sites are online and will get any broken links fixed as soon as I can. Most of the Indiana counties are moving from Rootsweb to the new server. You will be able to access the county pages from the State website. http://www.ingenweb.net/ The State Coordinator has been updating the links as we get the sites moved. The county coordinators who decided to move all chipped in to purchase web hosting for the INGenWeb Project so we could move our pages off of Rootsweb before the sites were moved to the Ancestry.com server. Eventually there will be a page set up for any researchers who would like to make a donation to the INGenWeb Project. The donations would help us keep it on the new server, free from advertisements, or to help purchase more space for records if needed later down the road. http://ingenweb.org/igwdonors.htm I also wanted to apologize to those that emailed me today about the broken links on the old site. I didn't have a redirect page uploaded on the old site yet. Sorry! <G> I do have a redirect up there now, but I am not sure how long it will be there so please don't forget to change your bookmarks. Thanks, Gina Richardson INGenWeb Project County Coordinator Delaware County IN http://www.ingenweb.org/indelaware/ Randolph County IN http://www.ingenweb.org/inrandolph/

On-line today at the Muncie Star was this article, it was an enjoyable read. Andrea http://www.thestarpress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008803230320 Spartanburg kept some amenities other towns have lost By MICHAEL McBRIDE mmcbride@muncie.gannett.com Pristine, the Spartanburg United Methodist Church sits across the street from a large cemetery 191 years old. Around the corner, the Spartanburg Christian Church is preparing for a spring building project. Pastors say their buildings, a stone's throw from each other, are magnets for community activities in a town half the size as when the churches were built. "We did a turnaround," said Mary Dailey, a member of the Christian church for 35 years. "We changed our music style, and we have really grown. "We do a lot of outreach activities to the community." >From time to time the churches participate in activities together, including cantatas at Christmas and Easter -- and an early evening service at the Christian Church on Feb. 10 complete with a carry-in dinner. "Food is not a rare commodity out here, and, for me, it was like going back to South Dakota," said Scott Miller, pastor at the Methodist church since August. "Spartanburg is a small rural community, and the people out here just wrap you up. "It's like they used to say years ago, 'Everything the family did, the church did; and everything the church did, the family did.'" Businesses and institutions in town, former horse-and-buggy hubs, are mostly gone -- except for the churches, the Greensfork Township State Bank (one of two branches, with the other in Lynn), Ward's Garage and the surrounding acres of farm land. Miller grew up in Wisconsin, pastored in South Dakota, then was youth pastor at Union City United Methodist Church before taking the Spartanburg helm. "My background is Evangelism, but in South Dakota I was asked to take care of the sick and dying," Miller said. "I was waiting for congregation members to pass away, waiting to close down the church. "My idea here is to get youth involved, and then the demographics are no different from Muncie or Indianapolis." Miller is on the board of Fellowship for Christian Athletes. "You might think Spartanburg is a little town, so what's the use," Miller said. "But there is work to be done, and there are plenty enough people to fill every church." Community John Ward has operated Ward's Garage full time for the past 20 years, and part time for twice that long. Ward, 65, is also a farmer. "Most out here try to help when people need a hand," said Ward, whose wife Maxine is a Spartanburg native. "Most like it out here, and they are pretty good people. "Lots of my customers come from different areas, but some are from here." Ward's shop is next to the bank, close to where the 1961 Lynn High School graduate lives. Children of residents from the areas surrounding Lynn and Spartanburg attend Randolph Southern Schools, according to Ray Ellis, pastor for five years at the Christian Church. Ellis said the educational link between the two communities went beyond the shared banks, the smallest privately owned banking corporation in the state. "The church is getting ready to add on," Ellis said. "It was built in 1920, and you have to go up a flight of stairs. "The planned improvements are for those who have been here a long time." The project will cost more than the $32,000 the church cost when it was first built. The work will include an elevator to the chapel from the basement fellowship hall, handicap-accessible restrooms, and special seating arrangements in the sanctuary. The church remodeled the fellowship hall a few years ago in preparation, and congregation members who were carpenters, electricians and plumbers helped with much of the work. "Spartanburg is rural by nature and poor by appearance," said Ellis, who lives in Lynn. "But it is loved by the people, who are determined to keep their community going." On a good Sunday Ellis' church draws about 125 parishioners, three times as many as four years ago. A member of the Christian Church for a quarter century, Tom Myers is a Cass County native. "Spartanburg people took us in and made us part of the family," said Myers, an over-the-road truck driver for the U.S. Post Office whose wife Susan is an attorney in Winchester. County histories suggest the town was named by early residents with connections to Spartanburg, South Carolina. "The bank has new owners, and a branch in Lynn," Ward said. "The Christian Church is really growing, and the Methodist Church is doing good, too. "And we have a nice cemetery if things don't work out."
