Author: Sisterrice777 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.randolph/1481.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Margie, I hope you're still active on this board. I am a descendant of Mary Walser Anderson Poorman's husband John Poorman (and his first wife Lucy Ann Brooks). You were asking about possible death dates for Isaac Anderson. This may narrow it a bit? I only had two children listed for Isaac and Mary: Martha (perhaps who you have as Margaret?) b. abt 1857, and Hettie (maybe your W.H. is ___ Henrietta?) b. abt 1877. Since Mary married John Poorman in 1877 (I had no marriage date), and Hettie was born around then, maybe Isaac died around 1876? I have more information on Mary, and John Poorman. Would you like to share, or do you have contacts that are more in this line? Jennifer Rice Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Donna, My great aunt Sylvia MULLEN (Mrs. Irwin MORRIS, Gas City IN), now deceased, wrote some facts down at the age of 102, including this: (Children of) "Rev. Frank Mullen - Lydia: Courtney Nettie Elmer" And I also found more in unattributed notes, to wit: "William F. Mullen's children were: 1. Martha Melvina Mullen born July 28, 1862 married _______Wells 2. Margaret Mullen born April 2, 1866 died before April 21, 1921 3. Sarah E. Mullen born Sept 18, 1867 married ________Davis then married _______Campbell 4. Melvin Mullen born Dec 1, 1872 5. William Mullen born July 18, 1876 died by April 13, 1921 6. Amanda M. Mullen 7. Alonzo F. Mullen born Oct 14, 1883 8. Rosa Arnetta Mullen married _______Cortner born Dec 5, 1885" (yes I would like the news article you have) June London (descendant of Alkanah Mullen ((brother of Wm F. )) & Mary Driver) said Bob Mullen compiled much of this information. I "Googled" Bob Mullen Genealogy and found many references you may want to pursue. I don't know if this is helpful but I have information about a Clarence Mullen in the 1914 History Book of Randolph Co. He married Gertie Wilt (also in this book) and their marriage record of 19 Feb 1891 in Randolph Co. says the service was performed by Min. J.R. Cortner. Thank you for the info; I confess I've been working on my father's HARMON line and not on my mother's MULLEN line since she is deceased. BTW, there are two MULLENs in our family that have died of ALS. Rita > I do have a question about the daughters that I'm hoping you can > answer.  > Mrs. Sallie Davis - is that possibly Sarah E. I have an ancestor named Peter Poorman. He was born in PA, died in 1830. Though I don't have his birth date, he had at least two children, born in 1810 and 1815, so he would be of an appropriate age. The kids were born in Bedford Co, PA. Peter was married to Elizabeth Shaffer. They had a son named John C. (perhaps Clement) and he did live in Randolph Co. He married Lucy Ann Brooks, and they lived near Saratoga, IN. Notes I have on him included: Around 1816 John moved with his father to Richland Co, OH, where he grew to manhood. He met Lucy Brooks there, married her in 1837, and moved to Randolph County, IN in 1838. Lucy died in 1875. On January 7, 1877 he married Mrs. Mary Anderson. The 1882 County History book states John "was never a hunter". CENSUS: 1850 - John Poorman, age 35, farmer, and Lucy, age 23 - Jackson Twp, Randolph Co, IN - children Henry 11, George W. 7, Margaret J. 4, Emaretta 2 1870 - John and Lucy Poorman, children John, Martha, James 1880 - John and second wife Mary (Anderson) - Ward Twp, Randolph Co, IN Do you think we might have the same guy? Mullen and Lydia > J. in the 1920 census for Farmland, Randolph County, Indiana.  Could > you put me in contact with either of these two Mullen descendants if > you do not have any information on my gg aunt, Lydia Jane Parks > Leonard Mullen? Donna, The only info I have on Lydia J. Parker (sic--the name I'd been given) is that William Franklin Mullen married her 15 Sep 1882 at Nottingham Wells Co., IN. William F. Mullen (sometimes known as Frank Mullen) died 7 Apr 1924 in Randolph Co, IN. In his obituary "Retired Minister Dead at Farmland" it states: "The Reverend Frank Mullen, 86, a retired minister of South Street, here Thursday morning following a short illness with pneumonia. The deceased was a member of the 84th Indiana Volunteers in the Civil War. The wife was dangerously sick the same time and died that evening." Strangely enough, this same obituary states that the survivors "are the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Sallie Davis, Mrs. Nettie Wells and Mrs. Cortner, two sons Elmer and Alonzo Mullen of Farmland....and two stepsons Ulysses Leonard of Farmland and Orla Leonard of Winchester." In the 1900 census William F. Mullen is in Farmland, Monroe Twp, Randolph Co IN, "Mullen, Lydia J. born Dec 1845 age 54 Mar 20 years Born Ind." In the 1910 census "Mullen, Lydia J. wife age 64 married 27 years Born Ind had 9 children four of whom were living in 1910." These notes were sent to me by a Clevenger descendant but I don't know who compiled them. Hope this helps; let me know if it raises other questions you think I could answer. Rita

I looked at the pictures that I had put on flicker, all I see are the following... IMG_6149 I see two big stones in the background with the surname of Pierce on them, one just has the surname, the rest would be on the other side. It is a dark pink/red granite stone, to it's right there is a gray stone of Pierce, Elwood O. 1855-1922 and Edith E. 1859-1924. I took this picture and the one named IMG_6150 for the soldier stone that is in front of it, I was not researching any of the stones in these two pictures, I just usually take extra pictures in a cemetery when doing a request, focusing on stones that are damaged, soldiers or in danger of being no more in the near future such as slate, sandstone and limestone ones, those are the earliest stones in the county, many are worn, damaged, flaking, and or, laying in the ground. I have learned the hard way, that these stones must be photographed as I come across them, as they are further damaged by mowing, natural demise or vandals. And the only record of that stone may lie in a group of pictures I have taken. In another picture called IMG_6145 I see another Pierce stone, it's in the background again, same reason, it is of Thomas H. 1843-1921 and Emma 1860-1942. For more info on this cemetery, I suggest that you contact the RC History Museum. Randolph County Historical Society rchsin@comcast.com or rchsin2@comcast.com both are answered at the museum Sorry, I could not answer your question. I wonder what other cemetery photos I still have floating out there in cyberspace. As far as your question on Pierce at Reitenour, I have no idea who he would be related to. I have not taken pictures of the entire cemetery as of yet, these pictures for Reitenour would of been for a raogk request and then I posted them. I will look through old e-mails to see who it was for and contact them on your behalf if I can find that e-mail. Somethings were lost when my laptop was stolen last summer, so it might take me awhile to figure things out for you on this end. 1. [INRANDOL] Ada F. Friddle Stitsworth Ellingwood
    2. I am hoping to find someone that can help with some research in locating the death of Ada F. Friddle Stitsworth Ellingwood. She was born about April 1865, the daughter of Moses Friddle. She married William Thomas Stitsworth 14 Feb 1889 in Jay Co., IN. I can't locate them in 1910 so I don't know if he died and Ada had remarried. She may also have been married to a Mr. Everett Rubush. I found that she was listed as a survived on her son's obit that died in October 1942 as Ada Ellingwood living in Redkey. Is there anyone that can help me with this? Hope to hear from someone.
