    3. Hi folks, Apparently GenSeekers is at it again. I've received three messages from them this week asking me to go to www.genseekers.com to sign up for their service. If you get a message from them, delete it and do not reply. They are a known scam and any money you pay them will be lost. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. 1. [INRANDOL] Family BULLOCK Info
    2. My ggrandfather Curtis BULLOCK was shown in the 1880 OH Census as being 10 mos. old. His father was listed as Wm. (b. NY) and mother Cordia (b. OH). I am looking for siblings or other relatives, and confirmation of his marriage about 20 years later to Leota CHAMP, then birth of 3 daughters who were also to have been born in Winchester. Daughters were Juanita (m. Leonard K. JOHNSTON), Dorotha (m. Glen CRUM) and Wilma. Does anyone have anything that ties to this family from Indiana, PLEASE? Thanks........Kaye ENGLISH SONOSKI

    3. Dear John: Although Murphy is a common name, there may be a family connection -- he may be the brother of Albert Murphy born in Randolph Co December 8, 1834; his brother John was born March1, 1847. Albert is my husband's great-grandfather. He served in the 69th regiment. Please let me know if there is a family connection. Wanda Hart

    1. [INRANDOL] Civil War Cavalry Trooper
    2. John Gross
    3. Greetings Group, I'm researching a Civil War trooper from Company B of the 7th Indiana Cavalry Regiment. His name is John Murphy, rank private, his age at enlistment in 1863 is shown as 18, and he was born in Randolph County. Listed after his name on one of the documents in his file at the National Archives is the word "free", and his physical description states he had black eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. This leads me to wonder if he was a free black man? The thing is the 7th Indiana Cav was a white regiment. What records can I pursue to determine if he may have been black? (I would GUESS census records?). Who might I be able to contact to research this for me? Can anyone recommend an Indiana researcher? Thank you. John Gross confederate@worldnet.att.net

    3. Gina, There is a book at the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis that has Cemetery Records for Randolph County including Reitenour Cemetery. The book is entitled Cemetery Records, Randolph County, Indiana, compiled by Monisa Wisener 1980-1981. 977.201 R192r I don't believe it is a complete listing for all cemeteries, but did have quite a bit of information regarding the Reitenour Cemetery that was helpful to me. I don't know if this book is available elsewhere, but you might try the Allen County Public Library at Ft. Wayne or the Family History Library at Salt Lake City. Records indicate Linsey was born in NC in 1814. He definately lived in Darke County, OH in 1840 when he married Hanna Cox. There were a couple of different Dixon families in Greenville, OH. Linsey and Hannah's son John was my g-grandfather. He married Francis Roark (d. 1875), then Mary Jane Robison, who was my g-grandmother.

It appears that this William Cox would be in the right time frame for mine. My William Cox was born ca 1800 but that is not certain. 3. Thank you so much Nancy Riley, Billy Baker, and Nancy Hammer! This is by far more information than I had hoped for! Billy, I remember going to the hospital to see my ggrandma, Delphina Britt - she told me "Whatever you do, Shelley, don't ever get old!" I remember the wake in the old front room, the black casket with red satin lining sitting up on saw horses. I was almost 3 years old. We were very close. I had no idea what that date was untill now, or any of the other details in that obituary. Thank you SO much! Thank you Nancy Riley for all that detailed census information! And Nancy Hammer - the Spences in Parker City were my grandparents -Clyde and MATHA (not Martha) Spence. They had moved from Winchester to Brockway, PA, then to Darien Center, NY, then to Parker City. If I can answer any questions for you I will be glad to. My grandmother also was a member of the Society Of Indiana Pioneers, through her Britt line. Thanks again - Shelley

    3. My Clevenger line is through my Great Grandmother, Gertrude Afareda Clevenger. She married Nathan Tine Adams. Her father was John Riley Clevenger son of Alfred and Mary Smiddy Clevenger. Alfred had a sister Nancy Clevenger who married Edward G Adams on Dec 7, 1865 in Rand. Co. They had 6 children. Edward is also the father of Nathan Tine Adams by his second wife. Mary Painter Shanks. Alfred and Nancy Clevenger's parents were John and Nancy Shockley Clevenger. Have you came across any of these names?
