    3. Thanks to all of you. The water was down the next day. About thirty homes right in town flooded, plus some in the outskirts, but it could have been worse. I believe Gina was spared, but barely. ----- Original Message ----- From: Don Sidwell To: INRANDOL-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, September 04, 2003 6:57 PM Subject: Re: [INRANDOL] Re: Randolph Co. for Clear & Smiddy family Duh, I did put that! James Huggins moved his family to Winchester, IN in 1850 after the census was taken, then back to West Alexandria, Preble Co., OH in 1853. One of his daughters, Emma, married Warren Eltzroth in IN and had two children there. Warren died in 1854 and Emma moved back to OH to live with her parents til she married John Early. I am wondering why James moved his family there and one thought was that maybe one of his daughters, name unknown, married someone and moved there and they went to see her. James and Nancy had six children - 1. Mary Ann who married Isaac Johnson, 2. ?, 3. Mariah who married Samuel Hervey (maybe Henry), a Nesbet, then Frank Phelps, 4. Emma, 5. Elizabeth who married Warren Campbell and 6. Robert Davidson who married Caroline Curry. I believe there was another daughter.

    3. Hold on a little while longer we can ride the flood waters down to her! It may be a while before I get out to that cemetery, The flooding in July had several of the roads closed between me and Randolph County, and this time the flooding is worse. I am 3 blocks from the river and the water is up into the homes a block away. There are road blocks on my corner. We may be evacuating, please remember us all here in your prayers . 3. Thanks so much Gina for the offer to check out the records for Isaac Clear & etc. in Huntsville. I live in the Texas panhandle. Would love to visit your state someday. I still don't know if Robert Smiddy & Urana Sallee Clear had any children together. I am checking counties now in Ind. for census bet. 1850 & 1880. I do know that Robert & Urana were still alive in 1903, living near Lincoln according to a bio. I have of my Gr. Grandparents in Kansas. I have no idea if it meant Lincoln Twsp or near the town of Lincoln, Ind. I am checking out both possibilities. Isaac Clear is my gr grandmother Elizabeth N. {Clear} Sallee's brother & Urana is my gr grandad, Samuel Sallee, II's sister. Brother & sister marrying brother & sister! My brother & I have checked for several years looking for a Robert Smeddy as it was spelled Smeddy in the Bio. & presto, I have just found him as Smiddy this past month in the 1850 & 1880 Ind. census. I have found Urana & Isaac Clear's sons marriages, on census & ect. They semmed to have stayed put in Cass & Miami counties. Samuel & Urana's sister , Lucinda Jane {Sallee} Cox lived all of her married life in Iroquois Co. Ind. 3. Thank you Shirley for your sound advice & words of encouragement. I am still hopeful of learning more for these familys. Urana {Sallee} Clear Smiddy has been my Achilles heel. Urana, Sallee & Smiddy are so misspelled in most records. When Urana married Dec. 24, 1840 to Isaac Clear in Preble Co. Ohio her surname was transcribed as Anna Talles!! Isaac's grandfather had their name changed from Hell to Clear. Hell in German meaning Clear. Has been a merry -go-round from the start. > Charlene > > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Re: [INRANDOL] Re: Randolph Co. for Clear & Smiddy family > Resent-Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2003 19:16:41 -0600 > Resent-From: INRANDOL-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2003 20:22:50 -0500 > From: unicorn1945 <unicorn1945@sbcglobal.net> > Reply-To: INRANDOL-L@rootsweb.com > To: INRANDOL-L@rootsweb.com > References: <3F52DA7A.496A96D7@xit.net> > > Mind if I butt in momentarily? 3. Mind if I butt in momentarily? I looked for many years for our gg grandfather. I checked cemetery records for "all" the cemeteries in Randolph County. He wasn't there. I checked with the historical society in RC too - "not there", I was told. Then I happened to accidentally find Huntsville and the cemetery there. Within five minutes, I had found him, his wife and two of their children - clearly marked. If at all possible do a visual or get someone to do that for you. Another gg grandmother was missing for a number of years - no one claims to have handled the burial or have records of her in any of the Delaware Cnty cemeteries. Then I checked into the courthouse and saw the death record - they not only had a lot of information on her but told me what cemetery she is buried in - Mt. Pleasant (Yorktown). However, the cemetery doesn't have her recorded because of some really bad record keeping. Point is - don't give up and don't always trust records or the lack thereof. One family Michael and Margaret with six children George, Susanah, Barbara, Eve, Henry and Philip (not listed but there were two other children, David and Frederick). The other family is Henry and Christina with 9 children Christina, George, Mary, Elizabeth, Christian, Henry, Catherine, Michael and Sarah. I cannot find these families in Randolph County in future census years although I know they moved to Randolph County by 1860. I also know that the name was changed from Hobick to Hobbick. Does anyone have information on these two families? I have ordered Civil War records for George W. Hobbick, Henry Hobbick and David Hobbick. Any help would be appreciated.
