    3. Hi Nancy, That was my son, Andy. I am sorry I didn't send a link about the story to the Randolph list, I did send it to the Delaware County list. A marker was found in someone's front yard, by Mark Kreps, He is with the Cemetery Restoration Committee. The marker was from an old cemetery in Gaston, Washington Township, Delaware County. It belonged to a John S. Smith, who died June 22, 1882. When Mark sent out an email telling about the tombstone, I loaded my boys up in the car and went by the house where it was found, and took photos of it and called the police, I was worried that it would be thrown away or destroyed. The police gave me the marker, and later Mark Kreps, My son Andy and me and my husband went out to the Hinton Cemetery and found John S. Smith's base. Mark cleaned the stone, and reset it. And now John S. Smith marker is back where it belongs. I have included a link to the story that was in the newspaper. Also a link about Mark Davis, who restores cemeteries. John Smith Tombstone. The newspaper and Channel 6 news did a story on this. http://www.thestarpress.com/articles/5/008152-5165-004.html Mark Davis article http://www.thestarpress.com/articles/1/007910-9121-007.html INPCRP (Indiana Pioneer Cemetery Restoration Project) http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/ Me and my sons worked a couple days, down at the Parker-Moore cemetery in Delaware County, with the Cemetery Restoration Committee, and we are learning how to clean the tombstones and reset them and how to look for missing stones. It is very interesting. I home school my sons, and am using Local History and Genealogy and the Cemetery Restoration as some of their extra schooling. I am planning on becoming more active with the group and help with more cemeteries next year. It has been very educational and fun! I hope you enjoy the links, Gina Richardson INGenWeb Volunteer Coordinator Randolph County IN http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/ . ----- Original Message ----- From: <JuPearl@aol.com> To: <INRANDOL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 15, 2003 12:41 AM Subject: [INRANDOL] Smith grave > Dear Gina, My brother-in-law sends me a few obituaries from the Muncie > paper. 1. [INRANDOL] Randolph Co Cemeteries
    2. Dear Gina, I finally am trying to look at the Randolph County cemeteries. I was able to print off the listing of the cemeteries. But is there a listing of the graves under the cemeteries? I can't find the listings. And when I try to click on a particular cemetery I seem to pull up information (photo & map) of a different cemetery! Probably my old computer. Is there any way I could obtain a snail-mail copy of all the listings? Please tell me what would be the price. Thanks, Nancy Hammer, Cheyenne

Just print them off of the web page or you could save them and take them to get printed. A lot of the one hour photo shops can print your digital images for you. George's spot is just a theory. I will take my probe out there next time and see if I can dig something up. You would be surprised at how many stones are just under the surface of the ground. We have already found a couple of them in Arba. I'll keep looking. Tim

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Bk.2ADE/1511.1 Message Board Post: Hello Sandy, My wife Sabrina, with my help, have been transcribing Arba Cemetery for the past couple of years. We have about 90% of the cemetery transcribed, with most of those posted on www.findagrave.com. We have Martha Maines (wife of G.W. Maines) on there along with ten other Maines. View their stones @ http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSln=Maines&GScid=691794& According to Beverly Yount's transciptions(1960s), G.W. Maines was buried there also. We have not ran across his stone yet. We went out to Arba today and we did not find his stone by Martha's or the other Maines. There did although, seem to be a space between Martha's stone and the one next to her. It may have been moved or it could be buried under ground if it had fallen a long time ago. If we run across his stone, we will let you know. We do not have her birth or death date. If you have that information or more information on the other Maines', we will be glad to update that information on their f! indagrave pages. Tim and Sabrina Benner

    3. First, let me give A Big Texas "THANK YOU" to Gina on the Randolph website. What a huge undertaking & a wonderful job that she is doing. I beleive Elihu Franklin Clear listed under the "Randolph Military Men", was the son of Isaac Clear & Urana {Sallee} Clear. By 1847 Isaac Clear was deceased & Urana Clear married Robert Smiddy on March 9, 1848 in Randolph Co. In. On the 1850 Randolph Co. Ind. Census, Franklin is listed as age 5. living with his step dad Robert & mother ,Urana Smiddy. On the 1860 Cass Co. In. Census he is listed as Elihu age 15. This is exciting information for me. Thank you, Lamar Anderson for contributing. Charlene {Sallee} Sidwell

    3. I just want to thank Gina here on the list. She's undertaken an enormous job and spends several hours each day on this. I occassionally get to see her sitting in her little corner pounding away on the keyboard and, believe me, rebuilding the site is no simple task. Lots of talent is involved in addition to the time. We're lucky to have her. Thanks, Gina! 3. I'm looking for the parents of my Absalom Frazier born about 1828 (probably in Ohio). On the 17 Nov 1853, he married Catherine Dill in Randolph County. She was from Preble County, Ohio. The family is listed in the 1860 Randolph County, Indiana census, vanish for about 20 years before reappearing in 1880 in Washington County Iowa. There is an Absalom Frazier in Kentucky who matches my dates--but I discovered that in 1880 he was still living in Kentucky and unmarried. Absalom has so far left a minimal paper trail.
