To Jim Johnson: Since your last name is Johnson, perhaps you are also a descendant of the Jesse Johnson family. If so, do you have any information to where any of the family is buried? Marian
Jim, Thanks for the info! That's what I thought, but couldn't say for certain. Gina, could you check and see if the listings under Windsor cemetery on the website need to be switched or something with Union/Old Terrell? Something seems to be amiss somewhere. I have a copy of the Burial Records Union Cemetery, ( Old Section) South of Windsor, Indiana. It has a Jho Chandler, Co. B 36th Infantry ,buried in the third row. My books do not show John Chandler in either cemetery, Union or Windsor, but my books are old. Sorry. My Maxville book shows only a Elizabeth (Betty) Chandler buried 24 Jan 1924. Nancy
Thanks for the information, Nancy. It's puzzling however, because John Chandler's obituary says he was buried at Union Cemetery and I sent my cousin to Union Cemetery to take the picture of the tombstone. (besides Monisa Wisener's info saying he's buried at Union). I also see there's 19 Terrell's shown on the list for the cemetery where John Chandler is buried-and with Union also Old Terrell??????????? I haven't been there, so I can't say for sure John is buried at Union instead of Old Windsor, and I may be all wet, but I'm wondering if something isn't haywire? Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this- Sandie Chandler Goeglein P.S. Nancy, did you ever find your info on the Parkers? Gina, The death of my ggrandmother Sarah J. Shoemaker in Reitenour cemetery is incorrect. it should reflect her death date as Sept 16, 1921. She was born in 1842 and died in 1921. age 79. Some was suppose to correct it. Thank You. Hello Al, The A. W. Bowen book is on the County History Preservation Societies page. I have it linked to the Randolph County page at 2 different areas. On the Randolph County History Page, and on the Biography Page. http://www.countyhistory.com/randolph/start.html Sorry about that. I will try and get more info added to the links so everyone will know what they are. Gina, There used to be a link to this book on the Randolph county web page. Since you have redone the site I have not been able to find the link. Is it still there? Al Worthen
No, they are two separate cemeteries. Old Windsor Cemetery is at the south-east edge of Windsor, a small cemetery with many stones missing. Union-Terrell Cemetery is a mile south of Windsor and a jog to the east. Union Terrell is very large and is on both sides of the road. Nancy
Hi, I was just looking at the great cemetery site. My grgrgrandfather is the "Jho? Chandler" shown under Windsor Cemetery in row 3. That is actually John Chandler who was married to Elizabeth Ellen Thornburg and served in the Civil War in Co B, 36th Infantry. I am a little puzzled by something though-the information I got from Monisa Wisener and the picture I have of his grave say that he is buried at Old Terrell/Union Cemetery. On the site it shows him buried at Windsor Cemetery and has Old Terrell Cemetery shown separately. Are they one and the same or what??? Thanks- Sandie Chandler Goeglein

I am looking for a used copy of a book called Swamp Hogs by William T. Venner. It's a civil war journal of one of his ancestors. If anyone has a copy they'd be willing to sell, I'm interested. Please contact me privately - unicorn1945@sbcglobal.net Shirley
Dear Gina, I have never heard of this book. Is it a full-size hare-back book? Please send me the name and phone number of the store. Thanks, Nancy
Okay, I will look at it again & maybe understand a little better about what I am looking at. Do you have any headstones listings for any of the cemeteries? I have two books that I purchased years ago, if they would be of any assistance. I could make you copies of them. Nancy
Hello List, I went to the Book Center, a used book store on Broadway in Muncie today, and they have a copy of A.W. Bowen's Randolph County history book, I believe it is A Portrait and Biographical Record, 1914. They are asking $175.00. It was in very good condition. I wanted to pass on the information, it is a very rare find. And believe me if I would have had the money today, I would have it on my lap right now!!! <G> If anyone is interested in this book and needs the phone number to the store contact me privately. Hello List, First off, I want to thank everyone for their comments on the website. I really appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Also, I read them to my husband when he gets grouchy about all the time I spend on it! <grin> I have been asking for contributions to the site, but have not explained how or what exactly. Any birth, death or marriage records, Last Will and Testaments, land deeds, probate records, Cemetery burials, photos. Military records. Any interesting family stories, Anything that you would like to share. I will find a place to put it, or make a new page. <G> I can either take scanned images, or if you want to type up the information and email it to me. If you can include a source please do so. If you want the information or story displayed a certain way type it up in that form, and make a note that you want it displayed as sent. I am using 3 different programs to build the website and can pretty much copy and paste or add anything to the site. I am hoping to do a few pages on the different townships and towns, and businesses also. So if you have anything that will go on these pages please let me know. Also it was suggested to me that not everyone wants their name given on what they contribute, and I wanted to clarify that to the list. I will not publish your name or contact information unless you want me to share that information. Please send me suggestions on what you would like to see on the website. And if there are any of you that are local and can help with transcripts for the cemeteries let me know. Thanks for being such a great group! I can't say thanks enough for all that have helped with the site!!! Gina Richardson INGenWeb Volunteer Coordinator Randolph County IN http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/
Nancy, I am building pages for each Township with a list of their cemeteries, including any burials, links or photos I have for them. I have contacted several of the Sexton's and will be including their names and phone numbers. Some of the townships are not completed yet. I am hoping to get to work on them some this weekend. I am also trying to post all the other articles and photos being sent to me, as soon as I get them. Just remember when you click on a cemetery name it will take you to the Township page and you will need to scroll down to the one you are looking for. I do not have any burials for several of the cemeteries yet. I am hoping to get volunteers to help with transcripts for the cemeteries. <G> Keep checking back for updates.
