    1. [INRANDOL] Randolph emigration
    2. Lampshire, Cathy
    3. Hi all, I had a general question regarding Randolph County, IN. Did the majority of people who moved into Randolph County come from a particular state or nearby county? And, was there a reason and a time period when most of that movement took place? Thank you, Cathy Lampshire

    1. [INRANDOL] Mistake!
    2. I posted a message on January 9th about my Pierce family history. My great-grandparents were Thomas Ozro Pierce and Sarah Welch Pierce. The mistake in the second and third lines should read: "Thomas Ozro PIERCE married Sarah WELCH, born in 1846 to William WELCH and Elizabeth WHITESELL WELCH." I see in the second paragraph I wrote, "Thomas Ozro and Sarah (Ward) Pierce moved to Iowa about 1866." The correction is: "Thomas Ozro and Sarah (Welch) Pierce moved to Iowa about 1866." I very much regret making those errors! thank you, Doris Wolfe

    3. Hi, I only have one Hiatt that is buried at Arba and that is Jabez Hiatt, born 2/20/1808, died 6/21/1874. I have two Yorks at Arba. William A. York, born 1873, died 1909. Then I have his wife Viola E. York, born 1873, died 1927. After the death of William, Viola apparently went on to remarry a Harrison. I do not have any Darrahs in Arba. Let me know if you have a connection to these names. The couple had at least 11 children including, Matilda Ann; Wooster D.; Francis M.; Clark H.; Charles M.; Horace E.; Mehitable W.; Walter E.; George G.; Thomas E.; and William R. CARPENTER. The children appear to have been born in either Beaver, Kentucky or Patriot, Indiana. The couple appears in the 1880 census living in Posey, Indiana with what appears to be an additional son and daughter, Chena W. and Clara I. CARPENTER. Annie's parents William Randall BATES b. 9 Nov 1784 at Cummington, MA the son of Amasa BATES and Jemima RANDALL married Polly LAZELL b. 3 Sept 1782 at Bridgewater, MA the daughter of Major Isaac LAZELL and Jane BYRAM. The couple was married 12 Sept 1803 at Bridgewater, MA, William d. at Newton, KY in 1841 and Polly in Mount Sterling, IL in 1850. They had at least 8 children including, Martin; George William; William Henry; Mehitable White; Horace Nelson; Polly; Annie F.; and Erastus BATES. All the children were born in either Cummington, MA or Windsor, MA. I find Frank A. & Mary J. BATES living in Camp Point, IL during the 1880 census along with two children, Frances M. BATES and William Nelson BATES. It is noted that Frank A. BATES was b. in KY while his wife and two children were born in Illinois. I also find William & Ellenor SCOTT living in Camp Point, IL during the 1880 census along with one son, Warren SCOTT. William is said to have been born in OH while his wife and son were both born in Illinois. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old family heirloom can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley ______________________________

    3. What I have on Find-A-Grave is just a portion of what is at Arba. The biggest problem with Find-A-Grave is that it is very time consuming to upload all of the info. It isn't a complicated process through. It is an interesting website to look through. Many people have contacted us because of Find-A-Grave, so it is worth all of the time that we have invested.
