    3. Hi all. Today, while doing some research for a client at the Allen Co. library in Ft. Wayne, I stumbled accross an article that was published in the Hoosier Genealogist newsletter back in 1966. This article is titled "Early WRIGHT families in Randolph County". There are details on about 12 WRIGHT's whom were in Randolph Co. very early. The article is two pages. I can scan these two pages to an adobe acrobat file and email to whomever is in search of the WRIGHT's in Randolph Co. You will need the free adobe acrobat reader software to view these two pages. Just send me an email if you can use the info. 1. [INRANDOL] Ref to Genealogy Record and wills
    2. Jack sent me this Idea... """"Perhaps a better idea is to find someone yourself, who you know would be interested and trustworthy, and specify him or her in your Will. That was my approach. I felt that my family and Executor would have more than enough to do and should not have to deal with my genealogy files, etc., as well.""""" Jack Ott researching the ROTH family from Karbach >From myself, That would be a good idea, as my grandfather had records, and didn't do anything with them and I found out he was into Genealogy, from an Family ASSOC. he belonged to, when I got in. His records were lost forever. My step grand mother, (whom I have no clue to .her prev. last name), family got everything from my grand father as he passed away 2 weeks before she died. My father controlled everything and wanted no problems with the family. I cannot talk to him about any of this, as he is a control freak in his 80's, and wants no part of Genealogy thanks to my half cousin who is in genealogy. My grandmother and her grandfather were married before my grandmother married my grandfather. The opinions of who was the good vs. who was the bad person, are very different. (My opinion is, that a man that takes on another mans children as his own in way of raising, feeding, clothing, with no support form the alcoholic real father is a good person.) If this statement insults anyone, I am so sorry.) Somehow she insulted him or his mother in some way, as he is VERY protective of his mother. Who knows how. He will not give me any info. on how life was. My mother is under his control and is clueless.

    1. [INRANDOL] Great Idea for your Gen. Records
    2. This came to me from another mailing list I am on and I thought it was a terrific thing. I am sure you are all like me and have spent hundreds of hours gathering information, it would be a shame to see it lost in the next generation. Hope it does some good. Genealogical Codicil to My Last Will and Testament To my spouse, children, guardian, administrator and/or executor: Upon my demise it is requested that you DO NOT dispose of any or all of my genealogical records, both those prepared personally by me and those records prepared by others which may be in my possession, including but not limited to books, files, notebooks or computer programs for a period of two years. During this time period, please attempt to identify one or more persons who would be willing to take custody of the said materials and the responsibility of maintaining and continuing the family histories. [If you know whom within your family or friends are likely candidates to accept these materials, please add the following at this point: "I suggest that the persons contacted regarding the assumption of the custody of these items include but not be limited to" and then list the names of those individuals at this point, with their addresses and telephone numbers if known] In the event you do no find anyone to accept these materials, please contact the various genealogical organizations that I have been a member of and determine if they will accept some parts or all of my genealogical materials. [List of organizations, addresses and phone numbers at bottom; include local chapters, with their addresses, phone numbers and contact persons if available as well as state/national contact information and addresses] Please remember that my genealogical endeavors consumed a great deal of time, travel, and money. Therefore it is my desire that the products of these endeavors be allowed to continue in a manner that will make them available to others in the future. 2. Torres, Jane E
    3. Happy Valentine's Day to All! Just in the nick of time for Valentine's Day, I have mounted on DCOWeb.org Billy Baker's latest gift to the Darke Co./Randolph Co. researchers! While he was transcribing the obituaries from the Union City Evening Times and the Union City Times-Gazette, he also transcribed the marriage license applications that were published in the newspaper between June 1934 and Dec. 1941. There are 1,738 applications which were made in Winchester, IN. They cover people from a wide geographical area. The paper published the names and ages of the applicants, their occupations, and their places of residence. Remember that these are only applications - probably some of the marriages didn't take place. So, as Billy says in the introduction, the application listing should be used as another "clue" and the Court Records should be checked. Again, I'm very grateful to Billy for all of his hard work and dilligence with his projects to aid us in our research! Hope you all have a Great Day! --Jane http://randolph.dcoweb.org/UCmarlic1.htm

    2. Dear Jan, I have looked for some Hancock information for a long time. I wonder if Tom Hancock is a familiar name to you. He was in the Parker area for a while, and he married a girl I went all through school with; we both were born in 1940. Tom also worked for a little while at the gun-shop at Parker. I never knew him, but I really would like to contact him if I could figure out something about him. Thanks, Nancy
