    1. [INRANDOL] Updates To Website
    2. The Richardson's
    3. Hello List, I have finally gotten some more things added to the website! Austin Cox compiled a list of Burials for the 2003 year, for the Fountain Park Cemetery. I took his list and used the S. S. Index and tried to fill in as many dates as possible. Some of the burials that occurred after Sept. didn't have records available yet. I want to Thank Austin for the list. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/fountainparkburials.htm This page is linked to the White River township cemetery page and the Fountain Park Cemetery History page. I talked with the sexton from Fountain Park, and he said we could have his records for the website. But they are in books and need to be transcribed. He has no way of copying them. He did say that we could come in and make a list from his books. I will not be able to do this myself, unfortunately I have to work the hours he has the office open. So I am looking for a volunteer that lives close to the cemetery, that would be willing to transcribe a list of burials. <G> I know everyone on the list would really appreciate the records. Venus Fillmore and Marion Vaughn has contributed a Starbuck/Simmons Bible I have the photos of this Bible online. And I will be working on transcribing the records from it and will have a link to them on this page. Some of the surnames mentioned are Starbuck, Simmons, Brown and Alexander. Venus has established a genealogy and history library in the town hall of Valley Head, AL. She is helping Marion work on her family history. Her email is listed on the website if anyone wants to contact her. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/Randolph_Count/starbucksimmox.html There are a few scanned death records now online. If you have death records to contribute, you can either scan them or transcribe them in an email to me and I will add them to the site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/Randolph_Count/deathcertificx.html Billy J. Baker has been transcribing Probate Filings from the Union City Evening Times. Keep checking back for updates. He has put alot of time into this project. And I want to thank him for all his work on this. And all his work on the DCOWeb site. I included that link also. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/contributedprobatefilings.htm http://www.dcoweb.org/randolph/UCobits/index.html I am working on transcribing records for the Hopewell cemetery. Austin Cox let me have a copy of his records. I am on page 14 of 41.<G> I will have them up on the site as soon as I get them all entered. Austin also has written a paper about the Lincoln High School. It will be added to the Schools page. Thank you Austin for all that you are sharing with us. Donald Peacock is working on getting me a list of all the burials in the Jericho cemetery. I have started working on the index for this cemetery. It is rather large and will take some time. I hope everyone enjoys the updates. And as always if you have anything to add or find any broken links please let me know. If you have any suggestions for things you would like to see added , I would like to hear from you also. Again Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the website! Surnames: Keagy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Bk.2ADE/1251.1 Message Board Post: I recognize many of these names. My Keagy family left the PA/MD region and moved to Preble co. OH, Swizterland twp. living there until after Abe Alex Keagy died CW. His widow and children moved to Union City (I had believed them to live Greenville, Darke co. OH), Darke co. OH before moving across the state line into Randolph co. IN. Trouble is, two Keagy women married and moved to same area, Blocher and another name I cannot recall off the top of my head, cannot find a connection. Also Keagy family found Hagerstown IN, not far from my family. I just cannot as yet find my Abe Alex's parents. Though he had sons John William Hamilton Keagy, Eli William Henry Keagy, daughter Laura B.. Alex likely born around 1818-1820, his age changed in each census that I have found.

    2. Torres, Jane E
    3. Hello, I have just mounted an old picture from the 1st Minstrel Show that was performed by the Hoosier Club in Union City. The show took place at the Grand Theater in 1914. The picture includes characters in the Al Jolson "blackface" tradition which was popular in those days, but is very politically incorrect in the current times. There is no offense intended. My parents identified the men in the picture as: First Row: James Ruby, Glen Barr, Victor Thornburg, _____ Braden, Eldan Reichard, O. O. Fraze, Frank Haselmire, Charles Heitzman, Ray Lenich, _____ Vaughn, Elmer Shugars, John Knoll, Victor Wildermuth, Skat Thomas Second Row: Tom Bothast, Kenneth Coats, Harry Thornburg, Pudle McGill, Howard Glunt, Clete Riffle, Tom Mason, Henry Miles, James Potter, Dory Robison, Herbert Wildermuth, Clarence Bothast, Ott Bailey, Carl Rosenbush Orchestra: ______ McDaniel, Claude Heckman, Ralph Thornburg, Everett Williams, Howard Mills, Fred Stebleton, Dr. Ruby on the Piano http://randolph.dcoweb.org/1914hoosier_club.htm --Jane Torres

If you have any Smithson information you would be willing to share, I would appreciate it. I can take my Thornburg's back to the 1000's. If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know. Thanks Karen

    1. [INRANDOL] Slick Family
    2. depiro@fidalgo.net Dear Kathi, Thank you for the Slick Family Tree. I tried twice to thank you by responding to your message, but both of them were returned to me. The tree was scrambled, of course, but I was able to put it into indented form just fine. I now have a couple of questions. 1. Clarence 1885-1937 is the first one where a state was listed; all his kids born in Iowa. Please tell me, if you can, where the earlier Slicks were living. 2. Lawrence Eugene Slick1917-1967; please tell me if it was Lawrence Eugene or Eugene Lawrence. 3. Are you the Kathryn born in 1967? I tried again this morning, and this message to depiro@fidalgo.net was returned. Thank you, Nancy

    3. Hello List, I wanted to pass on some search tips that came across one of the Tennessee lists. I had never thought of using the + or - with my searches. Enjoy! I hope it proves useful, Gina Dear list: When using Google and most other search engines: Not only can you add quotation marks "around a name" when searching for a specific person, you can also narrow your search by adding a + (plus) or a - (minus) to specific words of interest. For example, when I'm searching for my gg-grandfather, John Young, b. 1807, Fentress County, TN -- here's one way I can search for him: "John Young" +1807 +"Fentress County, TN" +genealogy If I find no matches, I would eliminate Fentress County and probably the year, too, and research using his name, +TN, and +genealogy. (It has been suggested to use +genealogy, in order to stay on genealogy sites and information. You can use a - (minus) in front of a word if, for example, you continue to get a news story on someone famous who happens to have the same name as your ancestor. In my case, it's an astronaut, so I enter the search like this: "John Young" +TN -astronaut +genealogy This will bring results of all John Youngs in TN mentioned on genealogy pages or sites, but no astronauts!
