I loaded a few pictures tonight. You can see them at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/sharplongacestors/albums.. glad to hear that you can get some free pictures printed out at Target. Before it was pictures through Wal-mart. Not sure, but I think that there are on-line services for Wal-mart and Walgreens to get pictures e-mailed to them and printed out to pick up. I would think that you could copy the pictures onto your computer and then go online to a print service if that is what you wish to do. One thing I have recently discovered in printing out my own pictures, with reg paper I get lines, but photo paper is so expensive for my printer, but I have started printing out on Velum Paper and they turn very nice, and show up fine once they are attached to plain background paper. Andrea
Andrea, When I clicked on print for the Wickersham tombstone a Yahoo window came up and I could order a free picture and pick it up at my Target store which is only 2 blocks from me. That was great. Thanks again for your work helping all of us. Helen <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Betty, I looked for one and didn't find one for Jacob Miller with a Mahala. There are 23 Jacob Millers who filed and have a connection to Indiana. Several don't list anyone else on the claim. Do you know if Mahala died before Jacob? Did she go by another name?? Sorry I forgot to get back with you earlier, :( Gina ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2007 3:53 PM Subject: [INRANDOL] NARA Pension File Look-up > Hi Could someone look up a pension file for Jacob Miller for Civil War? Betty: Ancestry.com shows 33 pension records for Jacob Miller. None show the pension going to Mahala Miller. The one pension record for Mahala Miller listed her husband as Joseph Miller. Do you have any middle initials for Jacob? I'll be glad to check again if you can give me more data. Hi Could someone look up a pension file for Jacob Miller for Civil War? He was married to Mahala Green. Many Thanks, Betty
Andrea, I had more time so I did do the sideshow and saw the Wickersham tombstone. That one is my great great grandfather who died in 1855. His widow and children moved to IL and later to Iowa. So far I have been unable to locate where she is buried in Iowa although I know the town where they moved. Probably in 1984 I was able to visit the New Lisbon cemetery but it was pouring rain by the time we got there so it wasn't a good day. One of those sudden storms that blew up. Thanks for all your help and doing such a great job of providing all the tombstone pictures. Helen <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. thought your name was familiar. I don't know what is going to be the best way for you to see them. You can do the slideshow and use the pause on it to then copy a picture onto your computer. Or you can go through the thumbnail page one at a time and double click on each one to get a closer look. I can not see it the same way everyone else does as I am the author of the albums, so it shows me a little different view/take on the albums. I do believe that I sent you off list the pictures of the Wickershams that were in the old cemetery at New Lisbon, and sent carbon copies to Mark Davis and Helen Wildermuth about their condition. For the older part of the new cemetery, say that 3 times fast, I hope to get out there again this year to photograph those 4or5 sections. There are probably 4 sections that I would consider to be active burial sections on the west side. I am talking about the east side that is the old part, what is near the road 800 East and to the park in the center and what is surrounding that part. Andrea
Lindsey, Thanks for your reply. Helen <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
Andrea, Yes. you gave me the list of names and I am one of the authors of the Wickersham book which Mike has. I was just curious of which ones they were now. I just looked at the pictures of the tombstones as they came up and enlarged them, although not all of them. If I had clicked side show could I have seen the names better on some of them? Thanks for your help. Helen <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
http://new.photos.yahoo.com/sharplongacestors/albums I just got done with Swingley/Clevenger Cemetery, taken by me Spring 2005. Hubby's familyline includes Swingley, he says that in the mid/late 1970s there were more stones up than there are now. He also remembers lots of wild Indiana Roses blooming. With the above link, you should be able to get to all my public albums that I have put up the past few days, except for the Huntsville one, which is at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/andrea_raogk_rand_in/albums Other's coming soon, all from 2005, will be Old Heaston/Winchester, Old Part of Pleasant Hill Church and it's Old Part of the Cemetery, PraiseChapel/NewPittsburg Cemetery, a few pictures from Union/OldTurrell, I finally found that picture of the White River Christian Church that we have been talking about this past fall. I will also share some community pictures as well. You will be able to see them all at the first link soon. Andrea Long
Yes there are lots of Wickershams in both the old and new cemeteries, the new cemetery has probably 3,000 stones in it, it is a very well maintained cemetery, and the caretaker who I don't know his name is very friendly and will guide you to any stones you request, at least he did when I was looking for Harlan and McFarland while I was there. I will ask around to find out what his name is. I plan on going back and retaking the Old cemetery and also the older sections of the New Cemetery this summer. I have only taken family stones of the New Cemetery. Not enough to share right now. Many of the stones in the Old Cemetery are very worn indeed. But hopefully with my new camera, we'll all get to see better pictures. I believe I gave you a list of the Wickersham's buried there. Also, Mike Wickersham has the Wickersham book, you can write to him in care of Wick's Pies in Winchester, or to his wife Julie at Dr. Dru Stewart's office in Winchester. Andrea Andrea, I have Wickersham ancestors buried in both the old and the new parts of the New Lisbon cemetery. It appeared the only ones I received were from the old cemetery. Do you have any idea which were the Wickersham tombstones or are they all illegible? Thanks. Helen
I never saw Francis either, and she was the one I was hoping for as well. Andrea Thanks Andrea. It was interesting watching the slideshow. Saw Absolom Mangas, some Lambert's, I think I saw George Smith whom I believe is my gg grandmother's brother. I was hoping to see baby Francis Harlan who passed between 1860-1861 at age 11 months. Lindsey
I just viewed the New Lisbon Cem today also and I recall being able to read one Wickersham headstone. Couldn't tell you what number in the line up though. Wish I could help you out. I am too far away to go visit any cemetery and index. Thanks for the pics anyway. Karen, (George Hoover Cemetery) I can not currently read all the names myself, will have to do it again, hopefully on a cloudy day to get the deeper shadows and then on a sunny day as well. If there is anyone out there who would like to take my pictures and go through them to index them, I am more than willing to send them a CD free of any cemetery they are interested in doing and allow them to index them and put them on findagrave. I just don't have the time myself. Andrea
New Lisbon Cemeteries. The New Cemetery is just grouping shots. I took pictures of all the visible Headstones in the Old Cemetery which is across the road from the southeast corner of the New one. The church and cemeteries are on 800East, at 550North, Jackson Twp. RCI. Took these in the Spring of 2005.
