    3. He is mentioned on this page http://www.rootsweb.com/~inhamilt/otdb1.htm This is what I wrote and what I received back on the Orphan Train Information, I have talked with Sharon a couple times I sent Her a picture of William and death info, marriage, and all I have on him. Until I find the first family he ran away from Thank you for that link to his page. Eleanor Prieskorn Warsaw Missouri May 1 2007 Eleanor L Bryant Prieskorn, Most of the records we have are of children that were sent from New York City of Boston. I'm not sure where he would have been picked up in Indiana. Unfortunately we have very little information on train routes. A lot of people are looking for this information, but it is just so hard to research. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck with your search. Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2007 19:12:29 -0500 OTHSA, INC P O Box 322 Concordia, KS 66901 Dear Stephanie Haiar, I want to thank you for your search also for the other places to look for information. I have only been told that my grandfather was given away, then he ran away from that home and was on his own. I have now found that was untrue, why we were told this story I am unsure. The places you sent me to look for information I have already traced most of them. I need to find if you have made your check in Kansas only? I have been told that he went to school in Indiana that would be in Jay County, but have been unable to find any information on that either. I have enclosed the 10.00 and again thank you for your enclosed research check list. By any chance do you know where in Indiana they started putting children on the train? There should be a record someplace shouldn't there? William was born in Indiana, also lived around the Bryant family until 1900s then on to California. I am finding through census that I have never been told the truth on many things. 3. I e-mailed Greg Hinshaw, county historian, who knows those school records very well. He said that pupil records only go back to 1920, but that there are some teacher records as far back as the 1860s and 1870s, complete records start in 1901. So maybe you will find a teacher record of who is in her class for yourself. Andrea

I know that there is also a teacher's licsencing/grade book for those that took a test to become teachers as well. If he was born before 1882, then there will be no birth record. The only thing you would be able to find if lucky, would be a family bible with his date of birth or a doctor's notes. Not many doctor's records are around though. 3. Hello list, Does anyone out there know how I can retrieve school records from 1870-1880 would it be the town? Or would the records be sent to the county someplace? I used to be able to check out cemeteries and other things but now I seem to go in circles with no leads or information at all. My Catherine Harty lived in Nettle Creek, Randolph, Indiana; I know some of them went to school, so I wanted to start my tracking there. The Harty Family was in the 1860 (Catherine age 4) and 1870 (Catherine 16) census Nettle Creek, Randolph, Indiana. Then she married at age 16 Thomas F. Bryant he was 40 years of age. Spouse Name: Catharine Harty Marriage Date: 10 Aug 1871 Marriage County: Randolph Performed By: Levi Howell The person I am tracking is William Henry Brown age 1880 census -age 9 My Grandfather; his birth records should be in Randolph County. His death certificate Stated he was born 3 Nov 1868, but that could be untrue. He died in the state of California in 1934 under the name of William Henry Bryant. Any help or leads I thank you in advance Eleanor L B Prieskorn (Ellie) Warsaw Missouri
