Andrea: I have all those pictures still in my computer of the Welch, Whitesel, Conklyn Cemetery in Union City. If you need those, let me know and let me know what address to send them to. Isn't there a way to trace the person who signed up for a new genealogy program using your e-mail/computer? They would have had to pay for it?? Used a credit card??? Hope you find the person. Bummer Andrea! I was hoping you would get good news that the Hotel had a surveillance camera in the Ball Room and they had an idea who took it when you filed your report. Did the Manager ever say anything?? You never said exactly what convention center or hotel you were at. Is there a way to get the word out to others that were there for the meeting just in case someone saw who took it? hello all, I have recently had my laptop stolen, and along with it went the past year and a half worth of work and e-mail with it. So I need to let you know to be causious of any e-mail coming from me in the near future, and the past 11 days. I will be using my yahoo account to send anything at least for the next few weeks so be on your toes. I have not decided to change my addresses as of yet, but do know the person who had pocession of it the next day, did use my andrea.genealogy to sign up for an ancestrystuff account, but I had changed my password, so the verification came to me instead. I also need to ask a favor of all of you. Those of you how corresponded with me in private, please look at the pictures and scans that I have sent you from either my pceaze or rcwifi accounts and let me know what it was so I can look to see if I have it backed up. I had done some backing up, but not sure what is missing. I don't need the accual image unless I can't find a match and I will let you know. This doesn't effect my yahoo accounts, thankfully, I can retive those past e-mails. I am also sorry to say, that my laptop was my brain, so I have no idea, who's stuff I was working on or where I was in the research. So I will need updating on that end as well. Sorry, Andrea

All of the info you provided was wonderful, but alas, after reviewing all of it, Chester's actual grave lot # is still a mystery. Though I suspect he was laid to rest in his father (William David)plot. Page 46 of the 1954 secretary's book indicates he was buried but not the location. And though the records indicate a marker was paid for in '81, a friend visiting the cemetery could not find one near the family plot. Would there be additional ledger books for 1954 that would indicate who paid for the burial etc, which might provide the actual lot #? You are so gracious to do all this work for those of us out of state. Thanks Again, Barb Bemis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thought all of you might enjoy this. Karen The Chosen We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us, "Tell our story!" So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do thethings I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying, "I can't let this happen." The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish, how they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth. Without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are they and they are the sum of who we are. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take my place in the long line of family storytellers. That is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and restore the memory or greet those whom we had never known before. Hi Diane: I have been looking for the location of Thomas & Mary Welch between 1800-1816. He was in Bellbrook, Ohio, in about 1830 and then in 1837 was in Randolph County. Found deeds for both of these times. Since I am far from any source that would have the book you mentioned, could you do me a favor and see if there are any records for Thomas Welch by himself or Thomas & Mary Welch in this book. Believe she may have been Mary Clawson born in Montgomery or Shelby County. They had a son William born near Dayton, Ohio, in 1816. Many thanks for your help. I'm not sure who wrote it--it was one of those things that had been passed around quite a bit. The dating was mine and could well have bben wrong, but I grew up there (b 1941) and I remember a lot of those mentioned. It came to me from a classmate who got it from her isister who is 2-3-years younger than we are--I don't know where she got it. I have allready done look ups in NC and No results, they were in Randolph Co IN by 1800 or 1801. Thanks anyway
Coleen, Marriage Records in Randolph County start in 1819 and the first Census was in 1820. With the dates you are looking for I would look in Virginia or North Carolina. You need to go to the State where you think they were born or married and request look ups. Each state and county has a website with a resource page that lists contact information and people who will do look ups for that area. This list is for History or Genealogy that pertains to Randolph County, Indiana and most of the volunteers who do look ups on this list only have resources for this county or the state of Indiana, so they would not be able to provide you with a copy of the certificate or look at the records. Most of the volunteers only have access to what is already available on the internet for other states, which would be the same information you would be able to do a Google search for. You have a better chance of getting a certificate if you go to the actual state you are needing information from. Here is a link to the USGenWeb Project. On the main page there is a list of links to each state Project. http://www.usgenweb.com/ Rootsweb has message boards and email lists for each state and county where you can post a request. If you use the Message Boards, be sure to post your request on the board for the State and County you are looking for or your post will be moved by Rootsweb to the appropriate boards. http://www.rootsweb.com/ Hope this helps, Gina Richardson INGenWeb County Coordinator Delaware County IN http://www.rootsweb.com/~indelawa/ Randolph County IN http://www.rootsweb.com/~inrandol/ Rootsweb Admin.
