I was just looking, and the picture I have from Wes Engle's wedding doesn't actually have Wes or Belva in it. It must be their guests. I have another picture that does have Wes and Belva though -- a bunch of people standing in front of a house. I didn't have these photos until recently, but you may already have them in your own collection. As for Frank Oberander, he is an elusive one. I have tried to place him with the other Oberanders in this area at that time with no success. I would think he was related though. It's such an uncommon name. I have some other Oberanders who show up in photos (Edith Hockett Oberander and Corrine Oberender). I've asked my grandpa and his sister what happened to Frank, but they say he was just never around. I can't come up with a burial or death record for him. Email me. I could tell you some more, but it is just rumors they heard, so I don't really want to post it. By the way, I also have a photo of Hazel Oberander as an infant and a portrait of Zella as a young lady. I just acquired these last week at the Bales Reunion. You may already have them, but if not let me know. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. As to the fact of Elizabeth, Willemina, Indiana and James F belonging to Wesley and Catherine.... 1860 Rand Co Jesse Engle, Martha, Mary A. dau 1858, Lutecia (sp)dau 1860. 1870 St Clair Co, MO Wesley Engle OH, Martha IN, Mary 1858 IN, Lucretia (sp)1860 IN, Amanda 1862 IN, Josephine, 1864 IN, Elizabeth 1864 IN, no name female 1870 MO. Any records of when or where Martha died and when Wesley married Catherine Sheppard? Did Wesley and Catherine live in MO? Elizabeth was with Wesley and Martha in MO. Surely she doesn't belong to Catherine. And just my opinion, but would say Willemina probably belongs to Wesley and Martha. Then maybe with the 4 year spam before Indiana was born, perhaps this was when Catherine came in. 1880 Census shows Josephine as grdau in HH of Mary Johnson in Williamsburg, Wayne Co. Lutitia, as grdau is in the HH of William and Letitia Engle in Rand Co. Also found a Mary J Engle b1874 MO, as niece in HH of Alphus B Cook in Green, Wayne Co, IN. Hello Roxanne and Christa, Is John Wesley Engle Belva's husband I assume? I just had Engle with no first name. Do you know his parents names? There are other Engles in the Newman tree so just wondering if there is another connection. Hello! I have a photo of Belva, I think and maybe a letter she sent my great grandmother. I will have to look. It is either in my great grandmothers photos or my gg aunts. Joel Newman was born in Warren Co., Ohio 30 Oct 1830 near Waynesville, Ohio. Joel is buried at Cherry Grove Cemetery in Randolph Co., IN near Lynn, IN. He died 24 Dec 1907. Joel was in Randolph Co. by 1856 at the time of his first marriage to Sarah Cornelius who died sometime before his second marriage to Margaret Ellis in 1858. His parents are Joseph Newman and Rebecca Pugh. I have Jonathan being born 4 Dec 1809 in Ohio. I have his birth information from Hinshaw's Quaker Records for Warren Co., Ohio. Joseph and Rebecca were married 7 Jan 1830 in Warren Co., Ohio. Rebecca was born about 1807. The 1880 census for son Joel states she was born in Ohio. Joseph's parents are Jonathan Newman and Ann Cloud. Jonathan was born 8 Dec 1768 and married Ann Clound March 1797 in New Garden MM, NC. The Clouds and the Pughs are big time Quakers. I actually have some notes that I need to add to my database. I should do that and then send you a PDF file. Back to Belva, I meet both of her sons Fred and Edwin. They were friends of my grandparents and cousins to my grandmother. My gg aunt use to live on a farm that I think was next to Edwin's. I do not see your direct e-mail if you will send it to me at [email protected] I will send some images and the PDF file. I have more on the Pugh's and the Cloud's. The south part of the county the following are Quaker Cemeteries that I know of. Cherry Grove (Cherry Grove and Bloomingport buried here) just south of Bloomingport; Quaker Lynn located on 950S, a little east of US 27, Lost Hopewell, which was mostly destroyed by a farmer, was on the county line, a little west of US27; Norwich was a Quaker Cemetery, not sure of it location exactly, haven't been to it, but it is east of Spartanburg I believe; Arba is Quaker, and one of the earliest communities and cemeteries for Randolph County. There are more, but those would be the ones in the area you are wondering about. You had questions about their marriage, if they are Quakers then you might have a better chance at getting that info. You need to talk with Tom Hamm at Earlham College, Lilly Library, Richmond, IN, he is the Custodian of Records for Indiana Yearly Meeting, he would have the original minutes of these meetings, burial information, and access to so much, I can't even start to tell you about, the collection is very vast. But still, it would not be a state marriage licenses for them since those did not start being recorded until Indiana became a state July 4, 1816. Before that it was a territory, and I don't have a clue what they did with such actions then. You would need to talk with someone from the Indiana State Historical Society to find that answer. Andrea

Need information on Methodist Churches in the areas of Bloomingsport, Stone Station, etc. May have been my Smiths' were affiliated with either Methodist or United Brethren.
Can anyone tell me where my Samuel and Elizabeth (Calhoun) Smith are buried in Randolph Co? I can not locate them in any of the cemeteries in Randolph Co. Was said they were possibly Quakers. Is there a Quaker Cemetery in Randolph County? Thanks so much
