    3. I've been looking for my ancestor Andrew Jackson Roberts (often went by "Jack") for quite some time. His second wife was Rebecca Wilson (1848-1871), possibly the daughter of Abraham & Mary Wilson. They married in 1871. No children are known, but given the dates (married in January, died in September) it's possible she died in childbirth. Jack's first wife was Amanda "Mandy" M. Hanks (1837-1869). They married in 1858, and had 3 kids: Eliza Lou Roberts (b.1859) Willie (?) Roberts (b. 1863, died as an infant) Steven A. Roberts (b.1866) At some point after Amanda died, the two kids were given to her parents, Stephen England Hanks and Elizabeth M. Kitchens, and were raised by them. They appear with them in the 1870 census of Putnam Co. Rebecca and Amanda are both buried in the Brick Chapel Cemetery, back behind the church. There is a broken-off stone between them - could this be the resting place of Andrew Jack Roberts? All I really know about him was that he was born around 1835, possibly in Kentucky. The only census I've found him in was the 1860 Parke Co. Census, right after he and Amanda married. By 1870 I've been unable to find any trace of him. Next to Amanda's stone is a tiny stone for her infant son, which appears to read "Willie". Pictures and more info at my page www.ruark.org/roberts-1.html. Any advice on how to proceed and find out more about Jack would be very appreciated!
