Nell, no Daniel Smith in 1850 index for Putman at Ancestry.com but I tried Morgan Co., and found this, however, the 1850 does not tell the relationship of people: 1850-Morgan- Adams Twp., line 5, household #169: Daniel Smith, 40, farmer, born IN. or IA. {I can't tell if it is an n or a} Mary, 38, TN. Rebecca, 17 Elisabeth, 13 Mary, 11 John, 8 Isaac, 4 Hannah, 2 All children born IN. or IA. Do you think this is right one? There were 3 other Daniel Smith in Morgan. I did not check Owen.
