    1. [INPUTNAM] Marriage Record in 1831..
    2. Several days ago, I called the courthouse in Greencastle for information on how to order a marriage certificate of my gg grandparents who married in October of 1831.. I sent money and a SASE for a speedy reply... I gave the names and the exact date of their marriage which is posted on CDs and other Putnam Co. resources.. However the letter I rec'd back from Greencastle today, says they can't find this marriage record.. ???? Is there anyone on this list that lives near the courthouse and would be able to get me a copy? I am happy to pay whoever can help.. This isn't unusual as I had this to happen in Anderson Co. TN for my husband's gg grandparents, and was told twice that it didn't exist.. yet it has appeared in several books as being extracted from that county.. ??? Please contact me personally if there anyone who can help me. Thanks, Ellie Swanger EllieSS@aol.com

    3. Most Indiana counties do not have actual "records" to copy prior to 1882. The marriage was just "recorded" when the parties applied for a marriage license/certificate. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Omegaway2@aol.com> To: <INPUTNAM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 11:29 PM Subject: [INPUTNAM] Marriage Record in 1831.. > Several days ago, I called the courthouse in Greencastle for information on > how to order a marriage certificate of my gg grandparents who married in > October of 1831..
