Am looking for information on a Joseph Lewis bn ca 1780-1790 who married in Hendricks Co to Sarah Jane Evans ca 1834. Its believed he died in Putnam between 1835-1840. (His widow Sarah Jane was first married to James Dale) After the death of Joseph, Sarah Jane went on to Illinois with her daughter Emily Mandeville Dale and son-in-law, James Lewis who had also married in Hendricks Co. in 1835. James and Emily had a daughter Isabel born in Putnam Co in 1836 and possibly a son in 1837. They were in Pike Co Ilinois by 1838 where this son died in that year. Other members of the Dale family made the trip with them and settled there before going onto Mo.. In 1840 James and Emily had another son, Thomas. In 1861 Thomas enlisted in the Civil War in Co E., 16 Illinois Infantry. Enlisting with him at Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois were Benjamin W. Lewis bn in Hendricks Co., Abraham Lewis bn in Hendricks Co., and Andrew J. Lewis. Their place of residence at the time was listed as! Mt. Sterling, Brown Co., Illinois. Does anything sound familiar or do you know who any of these people were? James and Emily were my gt, gt grandparents.
