Hi everyone, I just found a relative that was married in Putnam County on May 15, 1853. I am interested in getting a copy of the marriage certificate as well as the marriage application. Is this something that the courthouse has available or do I need to go elsewhere to get it? Does anyone have access to the newspapers during that timeframe to see if a marriage or engagement notice was posted? Their names were Mary Ann Shanahan and Jeremiah Mahoney. They were both Catholic and I believe that they married in a Catholic Church. Can someone share with me what Catholic Churches were open in May of 1853? Very excited. I think that this will get me started.
