Putnam County Gen Web has a WPA list of early marriages. On that list appears the following info: Nutterfield, Sarah E. m. John Pettey July 16, 1852 There is one John Carter listed in Putnam Co. in 1850. However, in that tri-county area of Morgan, Owen and Putnam there's a total of 6 John Carters. If you can provide approximate ages of each in 1850 I'll see if I can locate the correct one.
