Seeking the parents and siblings of Charles Peter Ames Sr. (b 1811 MA) and his brother Edward R. Ames (b 1806 MA). Both are believed to be related to the Ames Shovel family. Edward R. Ames appears in Greencastle Township, Putnam Co., IN in 1840. Edward R. Ames was a doctor in New Orleans by the late 1840's and had at least one daughter, Jennie Ann. Late in his life Charles Peter Ames Sr. was a farmer and County Judge in Marion Co., TX. He had married Harriett Potter in 1842 in Texas. They had 6 children before his death in 1865. One son, Charles Peter Ames Jr., studied Medicine at Harvard. Dr. Charles P. Ames Jr. spent a few years in MA but soon returned to New Orleans to practice where he died in 1875.
