    3. I regret that some on this list felt it necessary to "flame" Debbie. She has unsubscribed to the list as of this morning. I hope she will decide to come back to us shortly. My reason for wanting to put the whole matter behind us is that all of these messages sent @rootsweb.com are archived. This type of discussion is not genealogically fruitful and archive space is limited. My beef, IF I even have one, was NOT with Debbie but rather GenExchange. Not because they decided to set up these websites, but in the way they designed them. When first visiting their website it appears that a great deal of information is available. I checked several areas and found that to not be true. And to acknowledge Debbie's earlier response which she sent to the list -- yes, I do ask people to contribute information but I have also spent the past 25 years doing genealogy research and have a roomful of reference books. Some of the information, in fact, the majority of it comes from those reference books many of which are within the public domain. Those are the records that I post on the website. If any of you were around a year and a half ago perhaps you remember what the INGenWeb Putnam County site looked like at that time. I could be wrong, but I think it looks better and contains a good deal more information. Also when I took over this mailing list there were four subscribers. By combining the list and the website and making sure that each advertised the other, both have taken off. I could not believe that we had received over 5,000 hits in the year since I put the counter on the website. I truly regret we all ended up in this controversy and hope we can put an end to it. I will be putting up a link to the GenExchange page as soon as I can get to it. Sharon Bryant
