My query regards notes I hold regarding my great-great grandfather Eldridge GRAHAM. The following information is from the notes, and the source of the information is unknown to me. Eldridge GRAHAM emmigrated to Indiana from Townsend, Massachusetts. We presume he arrived in Indiana between 1845 and 1850, and he made his living both as a cooper and as a farmer. Eldridge GRAHAM is listed in the 1860 Federal Census Index. He is recorded as living in Washington Township, Putnam County at the time of the Federal Census. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, Eldridge was approximately 35 years old. During the time period Eldridge resided in Putnam County, the scant information I hold indicates Eldridge both married and raised a family. Our understanding is that Eldridge GRAHAM married an Eliza Jane MASSEY* in or around Reelsville, Washington Township either in 1850 or prior to 1850. [*: The bride's name may, in fact, not be Eliza Jane MASSEY. There is a Fountain County record indicating an Eldridge GRAHAM marrying one Nancy J. MAPA.] A number of children were born to this union, all the children are mentioned as being born in or around Reelsville. The children names and the approximate birth year for each child were: NAME APPROXIMATE BIRTH DATE Joseph Knight GRAHAM 1849 or 1850 John Franklin GRAHAM 1853 Samuel Adams GRAHAM 1855 William Thomas GRAHAM 1857 James Henry GRAHAM January 21, 1860 Sarah Elizabeth GRAHAM September 10, 1863 Between 1863 and 1865, the GRAHAM Family departed Indiana and migrated to Pottawattamie County, Iowa. To our knowledge, all the children, except for William Thomas GRAHAM, are recorded as reaching adulthood. So, there may be a cemetery record, in Washington Township, for William Thomas. Any information or suggested research resources for our Family linkage to Reelsville, Putnam County, Washington Township is greatly appreciated. Your attention to this matter of personal genealogical research is greatly appreciated.
