That certainly addresses any concerns I have. The point in case here is that some people believe that certain records or types of records exist when they, in fact, do not. I wanted to make sure that everyone understood that there is no such thing as a complete listing of all burials in all cemeteries in Putnam County. Even the most diligent and the bravest of souls who decide to tromp the little cemeteries will still miss some of them. The Putnam County Cemetery Board which has the responsibility of maintaining known pre-1850 cemeteries does not have a listing of the burials in those cemeteries. They are only now trying to make certain that the correct names are attached to the older cemeteries in Putnam County. Many cemeteries are known by more than one name which leads to a great deal of confusion. The records of burials at cemeteries affiliated with churchs are usually kept by those churches. However, since some have disbanded, etc. there is no telling where those records might be. It would be wonderful if it were known where they are. But since I doubt that will happen in my lifetime, we all need to keep working at making whatever records are in existence available to everyone.
