Would like to share information on the Kendall family of Putnam County Indiana. I am especially interested to see if anyone knows who the children of Mourning and Rachel Kendall were. William B. Kendall shows up in the 1850 census as 19 years old. I would imagine he was the youngest child. Mourning Kendall was born in Virginia on March 10, 1791, married Rachel ___________ on __________ and died Sept. 24, 1869 at age 78. He is buried in New Maysville Cemetery, the older section. Rachel __________ Kendall was born April 10, 1791 in Kentucky. She died Jan. 4, 1860, at age 68, and is buried in the old section of New Maysville cemetery, Putnam County. I feel pretty certain that my great-great grandfather, Jesse Kendall, married to Sarah Johnson, was probably their son. In 1860 Mourning appeared to be living right next door, if not with them, in Jackson Twp. Today we visited the New Maysville Cemetery. Mourning's tombstone, which is virtually obscured by bushes and yucca plants probably planted there years ago, was in excellent condition. Rachel's, totally unprotected, has weathered some. In this case, I think the bushes have keep Mourning's stone from deteriorating. The cemetery is well-maintained, and the stone is more or less centrally located, so it is not as though the cemetery itself is overgrown. Laura E.
