In this case, I think I can help with the list presented, combining 2 entries into 1 family. > Miller, Hiram pg 503 > County : Putnam Location : Greencastle > Hiram age 37 b. IN > Lawrence age 1 b. IN > living w/ Townsend family > ************** Hiram Miller is the last entry on page 503. He is the head of the family at the top of page 504--Phebe, Hiram's wife, and George, John, and Lawrence, their sons. Not listed, of course, were their children who had died in infancy or early childhood. In 1851 they had another son, Hiram Preston Miller. I am not aware of any evidence that they ever lived with a Townsend family. Hiram was the gg grandfather of my husband, Robert Vestal Seeds. In letters he was addressed as "Colonel." We have tried to discover what he was a colonel of. Any suggestions or sources for investigation would be appreciated. John Robert Miller, the second son listed, was my husband's g grandfather. He was a soldier in the Civil War, became a lawyer, and was mayor of Greencastle from 1880-1884 and again in 1910-1914. I hope this information is useful to Miller researchers. We are researching the following Putnam and Lawrence County families: MILLER, VESTAL, EAST, BRINTON, AUSPAUGH, MATKIN/MATKINS, JONES (Phebe Jane Jones, Hiram Miller's first wife).
