    1. JEFFRY/JEFFREY/JEFRY in Putnam Co., IN
    2. Carleene Hubbard
    3. I am still looking for some information on John C. JEFFRY/JEFRY/JEFFREY, my great grandfather who lived in Bainbridge area most of his life. He died 1899 in Urbana, OHIO, but was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greencastle. He married Sirrilda Elizabeth LANE 5 Jan 1876, and she later (after his death) moved to Indianapolis where she died 12 Jan 1933 at age 72. My only findings on John is that he first appeared in the 1860 Census of Putnam County, in the home of Aron & Nancy Manford, on a farm owned by William & Mary Foster. He was in the 1880 Census, with wife and one child, my grandfather, Sherman Beecher JEFRY. John stated that he was born in Indiana and that both of his parents were also, but WHO WERE HIS PARENTS? 3. Okay, I see how it is now. Y'all are just going to make me pull out that box of Wilson stuff and go through it, aren't you. FYI: There were five main Wilson families in Putnam Co., IN between 1820 and 1920. I am in the process of identifying them for publishing purposes. For that reason I will only answer questions rather than send you a lot of information. These families were as follows: Alexander Wilson of Shelby Co., KY John C. Wilson of Knox Co., KY Benjamin Wilson of VA A Wilson-Oliver mix from North Carolina And two brothers from Pennsylvania I also have IGIs from several states on the Wilsons. You might accidently con me into looking through those too. What's your pleasure? Sharon

DUKES BIO Greencastle Indiana, Putnam county seat, was founded in 1821 on land deeded to the county by EPHRAIM DUKES. In 1825, DUKES' son-in-law, John Wesley CLARK gave additional land. Together the 160 acre tract comprise Greencastle today. Local tradition asserts that the name Greencastle was chosen because EPHRAIM DUKES had originally come to Indiana from Greencastle, Pennsylvania. My Ephraim was married to Jane ESLINGER (2nd wife?) 26Jan1826 in Putnam county, but living in Cass county later that same year, was a preacher, living in Pulaski county 1842 until his death in 1872. Jane's brother Andrew married Sally DUKES 01Aug1822. Have reference that Sally was Ephraim's daughter, and one that she was his sister. My Ephraim DUKES a junior? Looking for more details on founder of Greencastle. Any links, hints, data, or new relatives graciously accepted! bldukes@webtv.net cable_d@excite.com Brian L. Dukes

    3. Hi everyone, Thought I would drop you a note letting you know that we are growing -- 58 members as of this morning on the mailing list. I am a little behind in putting material on the website and am not really sure when I can get caught up. I have been out of town for the past two weeks and didn't have access to my software program for the website. My father is also critically ill in the Putnam County Hospital. He has cancer and we've been fortunate that treatment has prolonged his life for nearly three years now. Unfortunately, it appears the cancer has attacked his lungs and we're not sure yet what the next course of action will be. Let me give you my work schedule (remember when I'm out of town I can only read email): Week of Feb 1: At home Week of Feb 8: Chicago Week of Feb 15: Goddard Space Center, Maryland Week of Feb 22: At home Week of Mar 1: At home Week of Mar 8: Goddard Space Center, Maryland Please keep sending your information and I will get it on the website as quickly as possible. Thank you, Sharon Bryant Listmaster, Webmaster INPUTNAM
