I'm searching for any info on my granduncle Earl P. O'Conner, son of Ollie Tilley and Sebastian O'Conner, b. 8 July, 1904 in Putnam County. Listed as living in Los Angeles in his mother's 1954 obit, and was living in Lomita, CA in the late 1970s, when he sent my dad his family Bible. Not listed, under all the variations I've tried, in the SSDI. Any info would be appreciated. Roy
As I have researched my family, I have seen several references to West Unity. My g grandaunt "Aunt Kate" O'Conner Smith was a member of the West Unity Church, according to her 1949 obit. My gg grandparents, John and Eva O'Conner, were married there in 1859, and their marriage is listed as having been performed in Owen County. Yet no one at the C.H. or library seems to have heard of it. It's not in their listings of defunct churches. The good folks there suggested it may have been over the line in Putnam County. But I haven't a clue where it is/was. Do any sterling intellects out there have the answer? I'd appreciate it. Roy O'Conner Glen Carbon, Illinois (transplanted Hoosier)

I am looking for information regarding the family of Luther Welton Etcheson. He was born in 1873 at Greencastle, Putnam Co., IN. He married Dinah Lela Kinchen 23 Aug 1899 in Lonoke Co., AR. Family information says that Luther's father was Samuel Etcheson, and Luther's mother was Catherine Wise (sp?), but others have said that Catherine was Luther's stepmother. Luther Died in Lonoke Co., AR from burns resulting in a house fire 18 Nov 1923. Thanks, Myra Chambers
I am trying to find the "Hartman Cemetery" which I understand is northeast of Fincastle. Can anyone give me directions? Is this an active cemetery and who could I contact for information? Many of my relatives are buried in this cemetery as well as the Blakesburg Cemetery which I have been to many times. I am researching the Obenchain, Pyle, Dixon, Couchman families and would appreciate contact from anyone with information. George Obenchain gobenchain@aol.com
Thank you to those of you who sent me the 1860 census info on Jacob & Rhoda Nugent. I have been searching for them for quite awhile and the Putnam Co., IN request was a shot in the dark -- because at one time their daughter and her husband, Philip Beamer Williams and Malinda Nugent Williams, lived there. I thought just possibly... You all are the greatest!! Judy Johnson
I posted a query recently searching for Jacob & Rhoda Nugent in the Putnam Co., IN 1870 census. I believe (not positive) that I have found Jacob in the 1870 Putnam Co., MO census (but not Rhoda). For all of you that responded -- thank you. I still have a lot of lost years for them and I know they were, in fact, in Indiana. I'm just not sure where now. Maybe 1860? Judy Johnson
The information for the Washburn Chapter of the DAR is now on-line. The information is taken from the 1999-2000 year book.
Greetings. My husband has just found out that his Great Grandfather was Willis DeWitt and through an unexpected contact through a previously unknown, distant cousin he got the following information. If anyone has any additional information, we sure would love to hear from you. Willis DeWitt, born March 1836, Greencastle City [ or township], Putnman County, Indiana. Do not know the death date. Married: Marian [?] who was born about 1849 and it is believed to be in Indiana. They had the following children: 1. Arminda [Minnie]DeWitt, f. b. about 1864, Indiana, Putnam Co. 2. Eliza A. DeWitt, f. born about 1869, Indiana 3. Ellsworth DeWitt, m., born about 1872, Indiana. 4. Rachel DeWitt, f. born about 1874, Indiana 5. William Walter DEWitt, m. born September 06, 1877, Indianapolis, Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana. 6. James DeWitt, m. born about 1880, Indiana. 7. Ellsworth died about December 21,1944 and was burried on December 24,1944 in Indanapolis, Indiana. Thank you very much. Ralph and Anna Everling
Judy, I wish you had asked that last week, I was in SLC, and there is one there. In fact I forgot to look up three names in it, and I will have to wait till next time I go to check them out. I need to look up Kiser, Detrick and Broadstreet, as I've never found them without an index on the federal census. Either they moved and moved back for the next census, weren't counted, or I missed them while scrolling through the fed. census. I am tracing the Carter lineage and the marriage of Eliza Nutterfee and John Carter. They married sometime around 1835 in either IN or KY. Eliza however married a Andrew Pittman May 22,1823 I have this fromthe book of marriage bonds and consent of Nelson county KY. I however need to find an instance of their marriage ending so that she later married John Carter. I have checked for evidence of Andrew Pittman's burial in IN but there is nothing.I can not only find no proof of the Nutterfee -Carter marriage of which I know there was as they have nine children together and were together till her death in 1866 in Owen county,IN.I also can find no proof of the desolution of the Nutterfee-Pittman marriage. Any help would be appreciated. Debbie
