    1. Smail family
    2. Rick Tucker
    3. Hi, I am searching for any information about the family of Matthew Madison Smail b.Feb 1,1870 in Indiana, d.Nov 12,1940 in Gibson County, TN. I found him in the 1900 Putnam Co.Indiana census with his wife Matilda E. 31 yrs., Roscoe D. 8 yrs.,and Bessie L. 2 yrs. Would like to find Matthew's mother and father. According to census information they were both born in Indiana. Matthew had at least one brother, George. George's wife's name was Ina. I think they came to Tennessee around 1910. Any information, tips, leads, anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help, Rick

    1. GRAHAM in Washington Township, Putnam County
    2. Graham, Phil
    3. My query regards notes I hold regarding my great-great grandfather Eldridge GRAHAM. The following information is from the notes, and the source of the information is unknown to me. Eldridge GRAHAM emmigrated to Indiana from Townsend, Massachusetts. We presume he arrived in Indiana between 1845 and 1850, and he made his living both as a cooper and as a farmer. Eldridge GRAHAM is listed in the 1860 Federal Census Index. He is recorded as living in Washington Township, Putnam County at the time of the Federal Census. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, Eldridge was approximately 35 years old. During the time period Eldridge resided in Putnam County, the scant information I hold indicates Eldridge both married and raised a family. Our understanding is that Eldridge GRAHAM married an Eliza Jane MASSEY* in or around Reelsville, Washington Township either in 1850 or prior to 1850. [*: The bride's name may, in fact, not be Eliza Jane MASSEY. There is a Fountain County record indicating an Eldridge GRAHAM marrying one Nancy J. MAPA.] A number of children were born to this union, all the children are mentioned as being born in or around Reelsville. The children names and the approximate birth year for each child were: NAME APPROXIMATE BIRTH DATE Joseph Knight GRAHAM 1849 or 1850 John Franklin GRAHAM 1853 Samuel Adams GRAHAM 1855 William Thomas GRAHAM 1857 James Henry GRAHAM January 21, 1860 Sarah Elizabeth GRAHAM September 10, 1863 Between 1863 and 1865, the GRAHAM Family departed Indiana and migrated to Pottawattamie County, Iowa. To our knowledge, all the children, except for William Thomas GRAHAM, are recorded as reaching adulthood. So, there may be a cemetery record, in Washington Township, for William Thomas. Any information or suggested research resources for our Family linkage to Reelsville, Putnam County, Washington Township is greatly appreciated. Your attention to this matter of personal genealogical research is greatly appreciated.

    3. Hello Subscribers! I have enjoyed seeing the Putnam County list quite active lately and would like to suggest that you also subscribe to the Hendricks County List. It is a new list so we need more subscribers to stir the pot, so to speak. In my research my ancestors were all over Putnam as well as Hendricks, and I think subscribing to the Hendricks List would benefit those who already get Putnam. Well I've put in my 2 cents worth -- hope you all have a great day! The Hendricks List address is: INHENDRI-L@rootsweb.com Thanks, Kerry Danville, IN Hunting Adams, Hypes, McCloud, Miller, Mitchell, Norman, Page, Pritchett, Scott and Todd

    3. Dear Archivist, Good morning. I'm seeking information on the cost and the location for obtaining County records. Please provide me the address for the office I should write to request Washington Township, Putnam County marraige records ( for marraiges between 1847 and 1851) and to obtain Washington Township, Putnam County birth records (for children born between 1849 and 1865). Also, it would be helpful to know the costs associated with retrieving and photocopying Putnam County records. Your attention to this matter of genealogical interest is greatly appreciated. Regards, Phil Graham
